Space Shuttle: Static pressure distribution on Chrysler Corporation Space Division SERV booster configuration

A dual purpose test was conducted in the propulsion wind tunnel (PWT) to evaluate the performance of an aerospike engine, in the presence of a booster, and obtain forebody and base pressure distributions on the booster in which it is installed. The test item was a 2.5 percent scaled replica of the SERV booster employing a 5 percent spike length aerospike engine installed in the base region of the model. Cold flow air was used to simulate engine jet operation. Two booster configurations were investigated, one on which reentry aerospike engine thermal protection doors were installed, and another where the doors were removed. The data presented are representative of the latter configuration for a Mach number range of 0 to 1.25 at angles of attack of 0 and 8 degrees and 0 degrees angle of sideslip.

Development of a space stable thermal control coatings for use in large space vehicles

The preparation and evaluation of zinc orthotitanate and of several new pigments and the environmental testing and evaluation of these pigments and of coatings made from them constitute the bulk of the work accomplished. New pigments were prepared and EPR spectra of pigments and their precursor compounds studied. Results of extensive testing of commercially-available, strippable, protective coatings are reported; Owens-Illinois 650 glass resin has been stabilized against progressive mechanical failures; and definite improvements have been noted. A zinc oxide pigmented lithium silicate paint has demonstrated very good ultraviolet stability.

Methodologies for optimal resource allocation to the national space program and new space utilizations. Volume 2: Resource allocation and smoothing model, programmer's manual

Appendixes are presented that provide model input requirements, a sample case, flow charts, and a program listing. At the beginning of each appendix, descriptive details and technical comments are provided to indicate any special instructions applicable to the use of that appendix. In addition, the program listing includes comment cards that state the purpose of each subroutine in the complete program and describe operations performed within that subroutine. The input requirements includes details on the many options that adapt the program to the specific needs of the analyst for a particular problem.
