TRW vortex-lattice method subsonic aerodynamic analysis for multiple-lifting-surfaces (N. surface) TRW program number HA010B
The program was designed to provide solutions of engineering accuracy for determining the aerodynamic loads on single- or multiple-lifting-surface configurations that represent vehicles in subsonic flight, e.g., wings, wing-tail, wing-canard, lifting bodies, etc. The preparation is described of the input data, associated input arrangement, and the output format for the program data, including specification of the various operational details of the program such as array sizes, tape numbers utilized, and program dumps. A full description of the underlying theory used in the program development and a review of the program qualification tests are included.
LANDSAT: Non-US standard catalog no. N-33
A catalog used for dissemination of information regarding the availability of LANDSAT imagery is presented. The Image Processing Facility of the Goddard Space Flight Center, publishes a U.S. and a Non-U.S. Standard Catalog on a monthly schedule, and the catalogs identify imagery which has been processed and input to the data files during the referenced month. The U.S. Standard Catalog includes imagery covering the continental United States, Alaska and Hawaii; the Non-U.S. Catalog identifies all the remaining coverage. Imagery adjacent to the continental U.S. and Alaska borders is included in the U.S. Standard Catalog.
A vector-dyadic development of the equations of motion for N-coupled flexible bodies and point masses
The equations of motion for a system of coupled flexible bodies, rigid bodies, point masses, and symmetric wheels were derived. The equations were cast into a partitioned matrix form in which certain partitions became nontrivial when the effects of flexibility were treated. The equations are shown to contract to the coupled rigid body equations or expand to the coupled flexible body equations all within the same basic framework. Furthermore, the coefficient matrix always has the computationally desirable property of symmetry. Making use of the derived equations, a comparison was made between the equations which described a flexible body model and those which described a rigid body model of the same elastic appendage attached to an arbitrary coupled body system. From the comparison, equivalence relations were developed which defined how the two modeling approaches described identical dynamic effects.
Computer simulation of plasma and N-body problems
The following FORTRAN language computer codes are presented: (1) efficient two- and three-dimensional central force potential solvers; (2) a three-dimensional simulator of an isolated galaxy which incorporates the potential solver; (3) a two-dimensional particle-in-cell simulator of the Jeans instability in an infinite self-gravitating compressible gas; and (4) a two-dimensional particle-in-cell simulator of a rotating self-gravitating compressible gaseous system of which rectangular coordinate and superior polar coordinate versions were written.
LANDSAT non-US standard catalog no. N-35
Information regarding the availability of LANDSAT imagery processed and input to the data files by the NASA Data Processing Facility is published on a monthly basis. The U.S. Standard Catalog includes imagery covering the continental United States, Alaska, and Hawaii. The Non-U.S. Standard Catalog identifies all the remaining coverage. Sections 1 and 2 describe the contents and format for the catalogs and the associated microfilm. Section 3 provides a cross-reference defining the beginning and ending dates for LANDSAT cycles.

Reactions of ions in excited electronic states - Excited N2/+/ ion reacting with N2 to yield N3/+/ and N
Study of the mechanism of formation of the N3(+) ion from the bimolecular reaction of excited N2(+) ions in gaseous N2. Using ion cyclotron resonance spectroscopy, an attempt is made to inquire more deeply than hitherto into the origin of the N3(+) ions and to determine the rate constant for their formation and the limits on the lifetime of the reactant excited N2(+) ions.
The measurement of meteor winds over Atlanta /34 N, 84 W/
An all-sky, continuous wave radio meteor wind facility has been installed in Atlanta. A double sideband suppressed carrier CW transmitter, operating at around 32.5 MHz, with an rms output of 2 kW, has been installed, and a receiving site was established at 27 km away. Details of the equipment, together with height/time profiles of mean wind circulation and tides between 80 and 100 km, measured from August 9 to September 4, 1974, are presented.

The N I /5200 A/ dayglow
The production and loss mechanisms of metastable (2D) nitrogen atoms are studied on the basis of Atmosphere Explorer satellite's measurements of 5200-A emission by the visible airglow experiment, complemented by simultaneous measurements of the ion and neutral composition of the atmosphere and the photoelectron flux. The relative yield of (2D) metastable and (4S) ground-state nitrogen atoms in the creation and destruction processes is examined. The results are used to calculate NO densities, making allowance for photochemical and vertical diffusion processes.
Central structure of low-n Balmer lines in dense plasmas
The investigation reported is concerned with disagreements between the computations of Kepple and Griem (1968) and the results of calculations based upon the 'unified theory' proposed by Vidal et al. (1973). Experiments were conducted with a high-pressure electromagnetically driven shock tube as the plasma source. The diagnostic methods used are discussed along with the experimental results and their significance.
