The author has identified the following significant results. During the sixth bi-monthly period, a mosaic was constructed in MSS band 6 of the southeastern one-half of Alaska. A mosaic of the whole state awaits additional coverage to fill in some gaps. In addition, new material is being monitored as it arrived at the Geophysical Institute and from the NASA Indices for inclusion into the departmental collections. No geology courses are being taught during the summer.

The author has identified the following significant results. Data obtained from cruises in Santa Monica Bay and Santa Barbara Channel appear to be consistent with conditions observed at each sample site. Further attempts to correlate ground truth data with MSS data will be deferred until CCT enchancement techniques are perfected.

The author has identified the following significant results. Comparative analysis of snow-free and snow-covered imagery of the New England Test Area has resulted in a larger number of lineaments mapped from snow-covered imagery in three out of four sets of comparative imagery. Analysts unfamiliar with the New England Test Area were utilized; the quality of imagery was independently judged to be uniform. In all image sets, a greater total length of lineaments was mapped with the snow-covered imagery. The value of this technique for fracture mapping in areas with thick soil cover is suggested. A number of potentially useful environmental applications of snow enhancement related to such areas as mining, land use, and hydrology have been identified.
