Building Information Modeling (BIM) plays an important role in building design and construction, particularly for achieving energy-efficient retrofits. Building envelope retrofits using panelized prefabricated system, such as those popularized by the Energiesprong program, need accurate as-built dimensions of facade features (windows, doors, etc.) to achieve the desired thermal and air tightness. Traditionally, building surveying is done manually, resulting in a time-consuming and labor-intensive process. Recently, 3D point clouds from terrestrial LiDAR have been used to automate the generation of as-built dimensions of existing buildings. However, automated BIM using LiDAR relies on solving the point cloud semantic segmentation (PCSS) problem. In this work, we propose a robust pipeline for solving the PCSS problem using deep neural networks, focusing on overcoming challenges posed by imbalanced datasets and complex architectural features. We introduce the first high-density, labeled, and validated building envelope point cloud dataset derived from multiple building scans, specifically curated to tackle challenges in facade-level segmentation. Results from the trained neural networks show that advanced attention-based architectures and incorporating radiometry (light intensity and RGB) features significantly boost segmentation accuracy for windows and doors.

A differential equation proposed by H. Lashinsky to describe the nonlinear solution of aperiodic instabilities is investigated. Oscillatory and nonoscillatory solutions are discussed and a numerical integration is presented.
The launch of the Explorer 45 satellite and the instruments installed in the satellite are discussed. The scientific objectives of the first mission, the orbital parameters, and the capabilities of the data system are examined. The satellite is designed to carry out investigations of specific magnetospheric phenomena in the heart of the magnetosphere. The data handling system is programmable from the ground for greater flexibility.
A complete sample of elliptical galaxies in the core of the Virgo cluster is used to derive a relation between stellar velocity dispersion and luminosity. L is found to approximately equal sigma to the nth power, where n = 3.2 + or - 0.2 over two decades of luminosity, with a scatter of 0.38 mag. The possibility of curvature in the relation or rotational support of the galaxies is examined, and a derivation of a law of slope 3 is presented and compared with the derivation for a slope of 4. It is concluded that the lack of increased scatter as the points deviate from a slope of 4 implies that rotation is not important.
Theoretical studies of selected diatomic and triatomic molecules containing copper and the simple metals Li, Na, K, Be, and Al are presented, with emphasis on elucidating the nature of the bonding in mixed transition metal-simple metal systems. Large Gaussian basis sets are used in the diatomic calculations, and are used to calibrate the triatomic calculations, in which somewhat smaller Gaussian basis sets are employed. Electron correlation is incorporated using both the single-reference singles plus doubles configuration interaction and coupled pair functional methods. It is found that alkali atoms form very polar sigma bonds with copper, and that the ionicity increases with the inclusion of higher excitations because they improve the electron affinity of copper, which in turn allows a larger negative charge on copper. Aluminum is found to form stronger bonds than beryllium, since it does not have to undergo sp hybridization. Some of the trimers bond by forming three-center three-electron bonds. These multicenter bonds are quite strong even when compared to the two-electron bonds in the dimers or to other bonding mechanisms in the trimers.
A complete calculation of the hadron jet cross-section at one order beyond the Born approximation is performed for the simplified case in which there are only gluons. The general structure of the differences from the lowest-order cross-section are described. This step allows two important improvements in the understanding of the theoretical hadron jet cross-section: first, the cross section at this order displays explicit dependence on the jet cone size, so that explicit account can be taken of the differences in jet definitions employed by different experiments; second, the magnitude of the uncertainty of the theoretical cross-section due to the arbitrary choice of the factorization scale has been reduced by a factor of two to three.
An integrated corner-reflector antennas has been designed, fabricated, and measured at millimeter-wave frequencies. The structure consists of a traveling-wave antenna integrated on a 1.2-micron dielectric membrane, and suspended in a longitudinal cavity etched in a silicon wafer. A novel traveling wave antenna design, the modified-bend antenna, with an antenna length of 1.2 lambda and spacing 0.96 lambda from the apex, results in a wideband input impedance centered at 140 Ohm and low cross-polarization levels. Measurements at 180-270 GHz show a well-defined pattern with low sidelobe levels, and a main-beam efficiency of 93 percent and 83 percent at 180 and 222 GHz, respectively. The monolithic approach allows the integration of a matching network and a Schottky-diode or SIS detector at the base of the antenna to yield a low-noise monolithic millimeter-wave receiver.
A flexible computer architecture based on stacked interchangeable modules is ideally suited to implementation using stacked multichip modules. Its use of all sides of a module stack allows simple, single-bussed modules, together with a gateway module, to be easily configured into a variety of more complicated architectures.
We report on a comparative study of optical performance of gold films deposited by resistive and e-beam evaporation, including measurements of the scattering from the coated surfaces. The effects of oxygen bombardment and titanium under-layer on optical properties and adhesion were evaluated. The influence of surface preparation on the optical properties was examined also.
As urban populations and traffic congestion levels increase, effective use of information and communication tools and intelligent transportation systems as becoming increasingly important in order to maximize the efficiency of transportation networks. The appropriate placement and employment of these tools within a network is critical to their effectiveness. This presentation proposes and demonstrates the use of a commercial transportation simulation tool to simulate dynamic traffic assignment and rerouting to model route modifications as a result of traffic information.

Contingent upon the modification of an initial condition of the injected or deployed orbit. Additionally, these designs can be restricted by the selection of the Cubesat subsystem design such as propulsion or communication. Nonetheless, many trajectory options can be designed with have a wide range of transfer durations, fuel requirements, and final destinations. Our investigation of potential trajectories highlights several design options including deployment into low Earth orbit (LEO), geostationary transfer orbits (GTO), and higher energy direct lunar transfer orbits. In addition to direct transfer options from these initial orbits, we also investigate the use of longer duration Earth-Moon dynamical systems. For missions with an intended lunar orbit, much of the design process is spent optimizing a ballistic capture while other science locations such as Sun-Earth libration or heliocentric orbits may simply require a reduced Delta-V imparted at a convenient location along the trajectory. In this article we examine several design options that meet the above limited deployment and subsystem drivers. We study ways that both impulsive and low-thrust Solar Electric Propulsion (SEP) engines can be used to place the Cubesat first into a highly eccentric Earth orbit, enter the Moon's Sphere of Influence, and finally achieve a highly eccentric lunar orbit. We show that such low-thrust transfers are feasible with a realistic micro-thruster model, assuming that the Cubesat can generate sufficient power for the SEP. Two examples are shown here: (1) A Cubestat injected by Exploration Mission 1 (EM-1) then employing low thrust; and (2) a CubSat deployed in a GTO, then employing impulsive maneuvers. For the EM-1 injected initial design, we increase the EM-1 targeted lunar flyby distance to reduce the energy of the lunar flyby to match that of a typical lMoon system heteroclinic manifold. Figure 1 presents an option that encompasses the similar dynamics as that of the ARTEMIS mission design. Low-thrust maneuvers are used along the manifold trajectory to raise perigee to that of a lunar orbit, adjust the timing with respect to the Moon, rotate the line of apsides, and target a ballistic lunar encounter. In this design a second flyby decreases the orbital energy with respect to the Moon, so that C3 -0.1 km2s2. Another design, shown in Figure 2 emanates from a GTO then uses impulsive maneuvers to phase onto a local Earth-Moon manifold, which then transfers the CubeSat to a lunar encounter.
