Pump vaporizer system delivers 500 standard cubic feet per minute of hydrogen or nitrogen, one system delivers both gases. Vacuum-jacketed pump discharges liquid hydrogen or liquid nitrogen into vaporizing system heated by ambient air. Principal characteristics of the flow and discharge system, pump, and vaporizer are given.

A square plate with clamped edges under a concentrated load was modeled using NASTRAN and ASKA finite element computer programs. Deflections were computed for various width-to-thickness ratios (b/t) of the plate element, and were compared against the classical theory to determine the b/t limitations. A cylinder with simply supported ends was modeled using NASTRAN and STAGS computer programs for buckling analysis. The models were subjected to a uniform radial pressure loading. Several parameters were changed, and the effects of those variations are presented. Utilizing these data, a model which will produce results comparable to published empirical data can be constructed and processed for a minimized cost.
The engineering feasibility of developing a basic mechanical system necessary for extracting large amounts of power (on the order of 10 to 20 MW) from the wind is considered using the concept of vertical airfoils moving along a closed horizontal track system. Attention is focused on those components necessary for the conversion of wind energy to mechanical energy, although the general characteristics and critical aspects of other components are also considered. The four phases of this program are: (1) Establishment of component specifications and interface requirements for major system components; (2) formulation of alternative sets of conceptual designs for major system components; (3) engineering analysis of various components and systems; and (4) re-examination of basic concept and identification of any desirable follow-up work.
Eight heaters are included in 14-cell package to provide 14-Vdc. Each heater is 11-ohm self-adhesive strip placed across broad face of each pair of cells. They are installed before cells are wired. Heaters are in series and are connected through pair of redundant thermostats.

Muscle hardness measurements in a squeezing dynamometer test are interpreted for expressions of adjustment effects of the central nervous system in rapid response to a starting signal. It is shown that preliminary muscle tension leads to the transmission of inhibiting proprioceptive impulses to the nervous system centers and that the degree of pre-working changes depends on the individual's typological personality characteristics. Concentration of attention during the pre-working adjustment is considered the primary emotional factor that controls sensorimotor performance.
Prophylactic measures directed toward preservation of health and maintenance of the performance ability of a man during prolonged space flight stress center on the selection of optimum work and rest cycles, physical exercises, the use of pharmacological agents, conditioning of the cardiovascular apparatus, etc. A specially selected set of hormone and pharmacological preparations is recommended to stimulate hemopoiesis.
The ATP measurements were refined to a point where the growth potential of microscopic samples of host-dependent microbes can be measured, even before an increase in microbial numbers has occurred. This tool differs from other biochemical indicators of physiologic states in its sensitivity and in the fact that it can be exploited with unwashed host-dependent and host-grown organisms.
Bubble domain materials and devices are discussed. One of the materials development goals was a materials system suitable for operation of 16 micrometer period bubble domain devices at 150 kHz over the temperature range -10 C to +60 C. Several material compositions and hard bubble suppression techniques were characterized and the most promising candidates were evaluated in device structures. The technique of pulsed laser stroboscopic microscopy was used to characterize bubble dynamic properties and device performance at 150 kHz. Techniques for large area LPE film growth were developed as a separate task. Device studies included detector optimization, passive replicator design and test and on-chip bridge evaluation. As a technology demonstration an 8 chip memory cell was designed, tested and delivered. The memory elements used in the cell were 10 kilobit serial registers.
