In long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiments, Monte Carlo (MC) simulations based on hadron interactions and decays are used to predict the neutrino flux. The 10%-level systematic uncertainty of the predicted neutrino fluxes from these simulations is dominated by uncertainties in hadron interaction cross sections due to limited hadron scattering data. EMPHATIC aims to reduce the neutrino flux uncertainty by providing additional data. Using a table-top-sized spectrometer located at the Fermilab Test Beam Facility (FTBF), its physics program includes precise measurements of hadron scattering and production cross sections at various beam momenta and target species that are relevant for GeV-scale neutrino production. Using simulation, we have developed a simple single-track reconstruction algorithm that has a momentum resolution of 3-4\%. We will demonstrate the progress in developing one of EMPHATIC’s first track reconstruction algorithms – an important step in making a new single-track forward scattering measurement (p + C $\rightarrow$ p + C at several beam momenta) using Phase 1 data collected between 2022 and 2023.

The ASR-supported Surface Atmosphere Integrated field Laboratory (SAIL) in the East River Watershed (ERW) of the Upper Colorado River Basin in southwestern Colorado ran from fall 2021 to spring 2023. Two monitoring sites were deployed in the East River Watershed as part of SAIL. The two sites were the Aerosol Observation System (AOS) located on Crested Butte Ski Mountain, and the ARM Mobile Facility (AMF-2), located at the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory in Gothic, Colorado. To gain a more comprehensive understanding of aerosols in complex, mountainous terrain, Handix Scientific deployed SAIL-Net, a distributed network of six measurement nodes spanning the domain of the SAIL research area from October 2021 to July 2023. Each node measured aerosol particles between 140 nm and 3.4 μm in diameter using a small particle counter (POPS, (Gao et al., 2016)), CNN using a miniature CCN counter (CloudPuck), and INP using the Time-Resolved Aerosol Filter Sampler (TRAPS, Creamean et al. (2018)). Our approach was similar to other studies that aimed to better characterize and understand aerosols and gas-phase pollutants using networks of lower-cost sensors (Caubel et al., 2019; Kelly et al., 2021; Asher et al., 2022). Such studies have identified neighborhood-level variations in pollutant concentrations (Schneider et al., 2017; Popoola et al., 2018; Caubel et al., 2019). Small-scale variations such as this are poorly represented in models and poorly measured by a single monitoring system (Caubel et al., 2019). Previous work has shown the representation error (the ability of measurements to represent a larger area) increases with complex orography, leading to decreases in model accuracy (Schutgens et al., 2017). The overall goal of SAIL-Net was to improve our understanding of the variability of aerosol in ERW, thus increasing our knowledge of aerosol-cloud interactions in this region and informing the usefulness of distributed networks of measurements for future studies.

Final State Interaction (FSI) processes in $\nu$--Pb differ significantly from those in neutrino--carbon ($\nu$--C), and MINER$\nu$A is particularly sensitive to these differences, especially in pion absorption. This work develops an FSI reweighting method for $\nu$--Pb (and C) interactions in MINER$\nu$A. We compare GENIE~2, the currently used generator version, with GENIE~3 predictions of the initial hadron energy as a function of FSI fate, and apply these weights to simulated observables. We identify changes in the FSI composition, providing a framework for estimating FSI-related systematic uncertainties and interpreting their effects in the data.
In neutrino-nucleus interactions, Final State Interactions (FSI) can cause nucleons to scatter or form heavier composite particles like deuterons and tritons. Observing these particles would provide direct evidence of FSI and help improve interaction models, which is essential for precise neutrino energy reconstruction in future experiments like DUNE. Our Goal: Develop an analysis to detect particles heavier than protons in ICARUS data to better constrain FSI models.
Neutrino experiments entering the precision era like DUNE, NOνA, T2K, and others rely heavily on the microscopic modeling of neutrino nucleus interactions for the extraction of neutrino oscillation parameters.

This report describes the results from a field project in the Eastern North Atlantic (Aerosol Growth in the Eastern North Atlantic; AGENA) that was designed to determine the source of condensable material that contributes to the growth of Aitken-mode aerosol particles to CCN in the remote marine boundary layer at the ARM Eastern North Atlantic (ENA) location.
The Mu2e experiment aims to find charged lepton flavor violation(CLFV) by measuring the monochromatic electrons from $\mu^- N\rightarrow e^- N$ conversion with an unprecedented single event sensitivity of $3 \times 10^{-17}$. When completed the experiment will improve the current limit by four orders of magnitude and make a previously unexplored phase space available for the search for beyond the standard model physics. Physics motivation for the experiment is discussed and design choices for the detectors and various sub systems are explained in this document. The construction of the Mu2e experiment is well underway and commissioning will begin in late 2022 with first data taking in late 2025 and 4-5 years of data taking thereafter to reach our goal.
$z$-Scaling of inclusive spectra as a manifestation of self-similarity and fractality of hadron interactions is illustrated. The scaling for negative particle production in $Au+Au$ collisionsfrom BES-I program at RHIC is demonstrated. The scaling variable $z$ depends on the momentum fractions of the colliding objects carried by the interacting constituents, and momentum fractions of the produced objects in the scattered and recoil directions, which carries the inclusive particle and its counterpart, respectively. Structures of the colliding objects and fragmentation processes in final stateare expressed by fractal dimensions. Medium produced in the collisions is described by a specific heat. The scaling function $\psi(z)$ reveals energy, angular, multiplicity, and flavor independence. It has a power behavior at high $z$ (high $p_T$). Based on entropy principle and $z$-scaling, energy loss as a function of the collision energy, centrality and transverse momentum of inclusive particle is estimated.New conservation law including fractal dimensions is found. Quantization of fractal dimensions is discussed.
The total kinetic energy release and fission mass distributions for the fast neutron (En = 3–100 MeV) induced fission of 232 Th, 233 U, 235 U, 237 Np, 239 Pu, 240 Pu, and 242 Pu have been measured using the LANSCE facility. The neutron energies were deduced from time-of- flight measurements. The fission fragments were detected using Si PIN diode detectors, giving us the fragment energies. The actinide targets were made by vapor deposition leading to high-quality targets, that were thin and uniform with reduced impurities. Corrections were made to the data for pulse height defect and the fragment energy loss in the target and its backing. The TKE distributions were Gaussian in shape and their mean value as a function of incoming neutron energy could be fitted with second order polynomials. In the case of 233 U and 235 U, our measurements agree with prior work. Our measurements for 232 Th are unique. Our data agree with Viola scaling. The constant position of the heavy mass peak is interpreted as being due to the influence of the N = 88 and Z = 50 shells. The GEF model predictions agree with the data in general as do the CGMF model predictions.
