AmeriFlux FLUXNET-1F US-xUK NEON The University of Kansas Field Station (UKFS)

This is the AmeriFlux Management Project (AMP) created FLUXNET-1F version of the carbon flux data for the site US-xUK NEON The University of Kansas Field Station (UKFS). This is the FLUXNET version of the carbon flux data for the site US-xUK NEON The University of Kansas Field Station (UKFS) produced by applying the standard ONEFlux (1F) software. Site Description - Along an eastern deciduous forest and tallgrass prairie transition zone just north of Lawrence, Kansas, this 6 km2 terrestrial field site is located at the University of Kansas Field Station. A 116' tall flux tower rises out of a mixed hardwood forest dominated by white ash trees. Field obdservations of plants, animals, soils and microbes are collected around the tower and in the nearby tallgrass prairie.

Machine learning for reactor power monitoring with limited labeled data

Real-time reactor power monitoring is critical for a variety of nuclear applications, spanning safety, security, operations, and maintenance. While machine learning methods have shown promise in monitoring reactor power levels, there is limited research on their efficacy in label-starved environments. The goal of this work is to assess the feasibility of classifying nuclear reactor power level using multisource data in scenarios with limited labels. Data were collected using low-resolution multisensors at four nuclear reactor facilities: two large research reactors and two TRIGA reactors. Within each pair, one reactor dataset served as the source and the other as the target in a transfer learning paradigm. Twenty-three supervised models were trained on labeled sequences of magnetic field and acceleration data from each of the target sites. Self-learning and transfer learning methods were applied to the top performing models to assess their classification performance with increasing amounts of labeled data. While reactor power level classification was achieved with a Matthews Correlation Coefficient of up to 0.739 ± 0.003 and 0.622 ± 0.009 with only 400 sequences per power state for the large research reactor and TRIGA target sites, respectively, self-learning and transfer learning leveraging source site data did not improve target classification performance. These findings suggest that alternative methods, such as higher sensitivity sensors, digital twins, or the use of physics-informed models, are required to enable high-performance classification in machine learning approaches to reactor monitoring with a dearth of target ground truth.

AmeriFlux CA-MA1 Manitoba Agricultural Site 1

This is the AmeriFlux version of the carbon flux data for the site CA-MA1 Manitoba Agricultural Site 1. Site Description - This field had been in perennial forages (grass with small amount of legume) for several decades. Field size = 39 ha. In 2008, the producer tilled the land so that part of the summer had perennial forage, and the remainder was fallow. In 2009, oats were planted. In 2010, canola was planted. In 2011, oats were planted. See Table 3 in Taylor et al (2013) describing site management practices.

AmeriFlux CA-MA2 Manitoba Agricultural Site 2

This is the AmeriFlux version of the carbon flux data for the site CA-MA2 Manitoba Agricultural Site 2. Site Description - This field had been in perennial forages (grass with small amount of legume) for several decades. Field size = 60 ha. In 2009, the producer tilled the land so that part of the summer had perennial forage, and the remainder was fallow (see effect outlined by Fraser and Amiro 2013). In 2010, oats were planted. In 2011, the field was too wet to plant and remained fallow. Cattle were in the field for a brief period in June 2011to feed on weeds. See Table 2 in Taylor et al (2013) describing site management practices.

AmeriFlux CA-MA3 Manitoba Agricultural Site 3

This is the AmeriFlux version of the carbon flux data for the site CA-MA3 Manitoba Agricultural Site 3. Site Description - This field has been in perennial forages (grass (timothy, fescue, brome) with small amount of legume) for several decades. Field size = 40 ha. Hay was harvested once each year. Cattle were placed in the field each autumn to graze. See Table 1 in Taylor et al (2013) describing site management practices.
