Translytics: A Novel Approach for Runtime Selection of Database Layout Based on User’s Context

Currently, organizations have to maintain separate systems for transactions and analytics inside the company. Notably, different vendors provide the capabilities for either of these tasks that require specialized hardware or software. Data engineers are required to retrieve data from one source and transform it into another format to obtain the maximum benefit in a minimum time. Organizations strive for a competitive advantage that is achieved by fetching data from their customers and getting insights earliest for timely decision making. Present practices do not permit the view of the latest data for analytics since the first data have to be fetched from the source, transformed, and loaded to other systems to be utilized for analysis by relevant teams. This paper introduces a single system for both transactions and analytics. Our proposed solution would permit companies to seamlessly adapt our solution without the need to shift all of their data to newer systems and allow all the teams. It would grant all the teams to have a view of the latest available data without extra expertise and budget.

A systematic analysis and data mining of opioid-related adverse events submitted to the FAERS database

The opioid epidemic has become a serious national crisis in the United States. An indepth systematic analysis of opioid-related adverse events (AEs) can clarify the risks presented by opioid exposure, as well as the individual risk profiles of specific opioid drugs and the potential relationships among the opioids. In this study, 92 opioids were identified from the list of all Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved drugs, annotated by RxNorm and were classified into 13 opioid groups: buprenorphine, codeine, dihydrocodeine, fentanyl, hydrocodone, hydromorphone, meperidine, methadone, morphine, oxycodone, oxymorphone, tapentadol, and tramadol. A total of 14,970,399 AE reports were retrieved and downloaded from the FDA Adverse Events Reporting System (FAERS) from 2004, Quarter 1 to 2020, Quarter 3. After data processing, Empirical Bayes Geometric Mean (EBGM) was then applied which identified 3317 pairs of potential risk signals within the 13 opioid groups. Based on these potential safety signals, a comparative analysis was pursued to provide a global overview of opioid-related AEs for all 13 groups of FDA-approved prescription opioids. The top 10 most reported AEs for each opioid class were then presented. Both network analysis and hierarchical clustering analysis were conducted to further explore the relationship between opioids. Results from the network analysis revealed a close association among fentanyl, oxycodone, hydrocodone, and hydromorphone, which shared more than 22 AEs. In addition, much less commonly reported AEs were shared among dihydrocodeine, meperidine, oxymorphone, and tapentadol. On the contrary, the hierarchical clustering analysis further categorized the 13 opioid classes into two groups by comparing the full profiles of presence/absence of AEs. The results of network analysis and hierarchical clustering analysis were not only consistent and cross-validated each other but also provided a better and deeper understanding of the associations and relationships between the 13 opioid groups with respect to their adverse effect profiles.

EV Watts Public Database

With the rapid increase in vehicle electrification, there is a need for up-to-date, publicly available national data to understand end user charging and driving patterns, as well as vehicle and infrastructure performance, to inform research planning. Energetics worked with various partners to collect and analyze plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) and electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) data from 2019 to 2022. All sensitive attributes have been removed from this publicly available dataset. Researchers from one of the partner national labs under non-disclosure agreement (NDA) can request access to additional attributes by reaching out to evwattsdata@energetics.com.

Energy Storage Cost and Performance Database

In support of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Storage Grand Challenge, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is applying its rich history of battery research and development to provide the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and industry with a guide to current energy storage costs and performance metrics for various technologies. Cost and performance metrics for individual technologies track the following to provide an overall cost of ownership for each technology: cost to procure, install, and connect an energy storage system; associated operational and maintenance costs; and end-of-life costs. These metrics are intended to support DOE and industry stakeholders in making sound decisions about future R&D directions and priorities that move the United States closer to its goal of energy independence. The technologies currently being evaluated are lithium-ion [lithium iron phosphate (LFP) and nickel manganese cobalt (NMC)] batteries, vanadium redox flow batteries, lead-acid batteries, zinc-based batteries, hydrogen energy storage, pumped storage hydropower, gravitational energy storage, compressed air energy storage, and thermal energy storage.

RIKEN TRIP Magnets Database

This dataset contains ab-initio calculation results for the temperature-dependent anomalous Hall conductivity, the anomalous Nernst effect, and the Seebeck coefficient. All calculations are based on ab-inito Quantum Espresso (PWSCF v.6.3) + Wannier90 (v.3.0.0). The dependence on carrier doping is also calculated. For all calculations a ferromagnetic order has been assumed, which might not correspond to the true ground state of the system. Tabulated values for the magnetic moments and essential input files for Quantum Espresso are available for download as attachments. This project has been supported by the RIKEN Transformative Research Innovation Platform (TRIP), Use Case: Many-body Electron Systems.

Power Plant Water Risk and Adaptive Measures Database

Project objective was to understand water-related constraints affecting conventional powerplant operations, specifically coal-fired power plants. Of concern were threats related to drought and flood affecting both water supply and ability of plant to discharge wastewater. Also of interest were adaptive measures taken to mitigate identified threats. This spreadsheet contains the responses provided by the power plant operators and owners. Data have been "sanitized" (e.g., random plant ID, binned location and generation capacity information) to ensure anonymity of individual power plants.

Compilation of Site Names and Spatial Extents for Sites in the Hanford Site Disposition Database

Several analyses that will be completed as part of the Hanford Composite Analysis (CA) and Cumulative Impact Evaluation (CIE) require the extents of facilities, waste sites, and other locations on the Hanford Site. The purpose of this calculation is to provide spatial extents and consistent naming convention for those locations used as part of the analyses in a single dataset. This calculation documents the process used to develop the dataset.

Review of the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) Ancillary Thermodynamic Database (TDB) Volume (DRAFT REV. 0)

The Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) Ancillary data volume comprises thermodynamic data of mineral and aqueous species that, in addition to Auxiliary Data (as referred to in previous NEA thermodynamic data volumes), is necessary to calculations of chemical interactions relevant to radioactive waste management and nuclear energy. This SAND report is a review of the NEA Ancillary data critical reviews volume of thermodynamic data parameters. The review given in this report mainly involves data comparison with other thermodynamic data assessments, analysis of thermodynamic parameters, and examination of data sources. Only new and updated data parameters were considered in this review. Overall, no major inconsistencies or errors were found as allowed by the comparisons conducted in this review. Some remarks were noted, for example, on the consideration of relevant studies and/or comparisons on the analysis and retrieval of thermodynamic data parameters not cited in the respective sections.

Database to Enable Facial Analysis for Driving Studies (DEFADS)

Naturalistic Driving Studies (NDS) collect and utilize data on drivers in real-world environments in instrumented vehicles. A common problem with such studies is driver privacy. In this work we collected a dataset of 77 human subjects performing scripted driving-related activities. We used three camera systems for the collection, including two high-resolution webcam devices as well as a third system from an actual NDS (the Second Strategic Highway Research Project, or SHRP2). This report covers the data collection process and summarizes the dataset, which will be made publicly available to researchers under a data usage license.
