SOUTHEAST REGIONAL CARBON STORAGE PARTNERSHIP: OFFSHORE GULF OF MEXICO: Presentations from 2020 Joint Partnership Meeting with GoMCarb Project
The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE's) National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) works with hundreds of partners within industry, government, academia, small business, international organizations, and nonprofits to advance clean energy. This fact sheet is a summary of our Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 technology partnership program performance.
The United States (U.S.) Department of Energy (DOE) developed the Billion-Ton Vision to enable production of one-billion tons of sustainable, reliable biomass for the bioenergy industry by 2030 (Perlack et al., 2005). The Sun Grant Regional Feedstock Partnership (RFP) was organized to fill information gaps and validate biomass yield assumptions related to the Billion-Ton Study (Owens, 2018; Owens, Karlen, and Lacey, 2016). Along with the more than 130 scientific publications generated from these studies, yield and sustainability data from the RFP field trials not only validated the Billion-Ton estimates, but were critical in developing both the U.S. Billion-Ton Update report in 2011 and the 2016 Billion-Ton Report (DOE, 2011; 2016). The intention of this biomass quality assessment report is to build on these initial successes from the RFP field trials by focusing on variability in biomass quality data necessary to evaluate conversion performance. This report contains a summary of chemical quality results from samples collected as part of the RFP field trials. This report focuses on assessment of the impact of experimental agronomic designs on biomass properties followed by analyses of the impact of environmental and production variables on biomass properties. Datasets include species and other genetic variables, fertilizer treatments, harvest information, and yield, as well as other publicly available data such as precipitation, temperature, soil properties, and drought. The key outcomes from this chemical quality focused assessment have included: • Complete evaluation of the impacts of agronomic designs, genetics, and environmental conditions on chemical properties for Miscanthus, switchgrass, sorghum, energycane, mixed perennial grasses, and shrub willow short-rotation feedstocks • Over 30 peer review publications and technical reports focused on variability in quality data • Development of spatial and temporal environmental quality prediction maps for Miscanthus and switchgrass feedstocks allowing for comprehensive evaluation of variability in feedstock chemical quality across U.S. regions and over multiple harvest years
These slides describe the U.S. Department of Energy's Energy Transitions Initiative Partnership Project (ETIPP). They include the ETIPP goals, partner network, technical assistance types, project timeline, and quotations by some communities selected for ETIPP in FY21.
This informational webinar, held on Nov. 11, 2024, covered the structure, technical focus, and eligibility criteria for the first Request for Proposals (RFP) released by the Community Microgrid Assistance Partnership (C-MAP). Eligible communities are invited to propose a community-based microgrid development or improvement project for funding and/or technical assistance. C-MAP is a program led by the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Electricity with management and coordination by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. C-MAP will bring together many of the organizations that are working to understand, improve, and implement advanced microgrid energy systems in underserved and Indigenous communities in remote areas, facilitating a new forum for engagement and collaboration. Wraparound services from regional organizations will support the participating communities in microgrid operations as it relates to advancing their energy goals.
This presentation offers information about the open application for the Energy Technology Innovation Partnership Project (ETIPP). It covers a program overview, information about types of support available through ETIPP, and examples of community technical assistance through ETIPP.
General introduction to NASA Partnerships and Technology
The NASA Solar System Exploration Research Virtual Institute (SSERVI) is a virtual institute focused on research at the intersection of science and exploration, training the next generation of lunar scientists, and community development. As part of the SSERVI mission, we act as a hub for opportunities that engage the larger scientific and exploration communities in order to form new interdisciplinary, research-focused collaborations. This talk will describe the international partnership program, research efforts and how we are engaging the international science and exploration communities through workshops, conferences, online seminars and classes, student exchange programs and internships.
This fact sheet explains the National Community Solar Partnership (NCSP), which is a coalition of community solar stakeholders working to expand access to affordable community solar to every American household by 2025.
This fact sheet is for the National Community Solar Partnerships and describes one of the collaborative groups within it.

Karen Thomas from NREL will discuss utility partnership programs with the federal government under the Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) of the Department of Energy (DOE). These programs offer a way for a utility to partner with federal agencies. She will describe the federal government's ability to work directly with their serving natural gas utility to implement successful energy efficiency projects. Also, Jill Engel-Cox from NREL's Joint Institute for Strategic Energy Analysis will briefly share their analysis to identify opportunities to reduce emissions and increase efficiency of the production and delivery of natural gas.
This fact sheet provides a general overview of the Energy Transitions Initiative Partnership Project (ETIPP). It describes the general purpose of the program, and provides some general examples of technical assistance that could be offered through the program.
This fact sheet discusses the National Community Solar Partnership States Collaborative, which aims to help stages of market maturity and development explore, design, launch, administer, and expand programs that improve affordable community solar access.
This fact sheet discusses the Credit Ready Solar Initiative, which will leverage working groups, technical assistance, training, and strategic partnerships to build a pipeline of credit-ready community solar projects and broad access to a community solar marketplace that connects owners, developers, lenders, and philanthropy to support more equitable deployment of community solar.
The United States Agency for International Development is drawing on U.S. Department of Energy national laboratory expertise to advance clean, resilient, and equitable energy systems in the developing world through the USAID-NREL Partnership.
The Partnership for Radiation Studies (PaRS) consortium was recently awarded by U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). The five-year grant aims to increase the number of underrepresented students in STEM disciplines, with simultaneous advancement of nuclear radiation science. The goal is to hire more underrepresented minorities at national laboratories. The consortium’s progress will be tracked/reported annually. This paper and subsequent presentation cover details of the consortium, highlighting the key activities of participating national laboratories in assisting the minority-serving institutions.
An overview of the Energy Transitions Initiative Partnership Project (ETIPP), a U.S. Department of Energy program that provides technical assistance and cash awards to coastal, island, and remote communities. This fact sheet includes updated information about ETIPP eligibility requirements for communities; new program offerings, including cash awards; and the locations of communities in the program's first three cohorts.
