The invention provides a device for removing heat from a building, the device having: a first tubular member defining a first cavity; a second tubular member defining a second cavity, whereby said second tubular member resides within the first cavity and is coaxial to the first tubular member; and a double conic body coaxially residing in the first cavity and coaxially positioned with the second tubular member. Also provided is a method for removing heat from a building, the method having the steps of: directing heat-containing exhaust emanating from a flue, defining a first diameter, to a passageway received by the flue, whereby the passageway defines a longitudinal axis and a periphery circumscribing the axis; forming the directed exhaust into a slipstream, wherein the slipstream generally travels along the longitudinal axis; and routing precipitation entering the passageway to the periphery.

The present disclosure provides genetically modified plants, plant cells and plant tissues that show reduced lignin content as compared to a control plant which was not genetically modified. In addition, the disclosure provides methods of regulating lignin content in a plant. The disclosure also provides methods of producing bioproducts using the genetically modified plants of the instant disclosure.

Helium and Nitrogen are two significant chemical elements that are used to advance cryogenic scientific breakthroughs. Helium is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas that becomes liquid at (−452 °F). Nitrogen is a gas at its standard conditions; It becomes solid once temperatures reach below (-346 °F), and it boils and becomes a gas once temperatures reach above (-320 °F). During this research project I used a web-based interactive computing platform called Jupyter Lab to modify various python programs that calculate, and display helium and nitrogen inventory lost from three cryo plants

It has been observed that water can react with activated gas-phase lanthanide tetranitrato complexes ([Ln(NO3)4]-) to form a hydroxylated species. These reactions, which are proposed to involve water splitting, are observed for most -- but not all -- of the lanthanides. Thus, study of this system could yield insight into how small changes in electronic structure (through variation of the lanthanide species) influences water-splitting reactions, help guide development of new materials used to convert water to hydrogen using electricity. The mechanism proposed in the literature is: (Step 1) [Ln(NO3)4]- ? [LnO(NO3)3]- + ?NO2 (Step 2) [LnO(NO3)3]- + H2O ? [LnOH(NO3)3]- + ?OH The purpose of this study is to determine if the reaction mechanism really does involve splitting of water or proceeds through an alternative pathway.
