Genome sequences of four novel Endozoicomonas strains associated with a tropical octocoral in a long-term aquarium facility

ABSTRACT We report the genome sequences of four Endozoicomonas sp. strains isolated from the octocoral Litophyton maintained long term at an aquarium facility. Our analysis reveals the coding potential for versatile polysaccharide metabolism; Type II, III, IV, and VI secretion systems; and the biosynthesis of novel ribosomally synthesized and post-translationally modified peptides.

RB-TnSeq barcode abundance data sets for Novosphingobium aromaticivorans grown on the β-5-linked aromatic dimer dehydrodiconiferyl alcohol

ABSTRACT A randomly barcoded transposon insertion sequencing (RB-TnSeq) library of Novosphingobium aromaticivorans DSM12444 was grown in media containing either glucose or the β-5-linked aromatic dimer dehydrodiconiferyl alcohol (DC-A) as the sole carbon source. The cultures were grown to saturation and then sequenced, yielding the barcode abundance data sets presented here.

Transcriptomic data sets for Novosphingobium aromaticivorans grown with the β-5-linked aromatic dimer dehydrodiconiferyl alcohol and the related G-aromatic monomers vanillin and ferulic acid

ABSTRACT The transcriptomes of a 2-pyrone-4,6-dicarboxylic acid-producing strain of Novosphingobium aromaticivorans DSM12444 were determined when grown in minimal medium containing glucose alone or glucose plus vanillin, ferulic acid, or the β-5-linked aromatic dimer dehydrodiconiferyl alcohol as carbon sources. Here, we present the RNA-sequencing data we obtained.

Draft genome sequence of Exiguobacterium sp. from whole cantaloupe, with inhibition capacity against Listeria monocytogenes

ABSTRACT We report the draft genome sequence of a novel species, Exiguobacterium sp., isolated from a freshly harvested and untreated cantaloupe in North Carolina. The strain Exiguobacterium wild type exhibited inhibitory activity against the foodborne pathogen Listeria monocytogenes , including strains of diverse serotypes and genotypes, both on agar media and in biofilms.

Complete genome sequence of Rhodococcus qingshengii phage Perlina

ABSTRACT Rhodococcus phage Perlina is a novel phage isolated on Rhodococcus qingshengii S10. Perlina encodes 112 open reading frames with typical phage structural genes identified and 3 tRNAs (tRNA-Ile, tRNA-Met, and tRNA-Asn). Few close relatives can be identified at the nucleotide level, suggesting a new phage species.

Genome-Wide Identification of Transcription Start Sites in Two Alphaproteobacteria , Rhodobacter sphaeroides 2.4.1 and Novosphingobium aromaticivorans DSM 12444

Here, we report the genome-wide identification of transcription start sites (TSSs) from two Alphaproteobacteria grown under conditions that result in significant changes in gene expression. TSSs that were identified as present in one condition or both will be an important resource for future studies of these, and possibly other, Alphaproteobacteria .

Metagenomes from Experimental Hydrologic Manipulation of Restored Coastal Plain Wetland Soils (Tyrell County, North Carolina)

ABSTRACT Hydrologic changes modify microbial community structure and ecosystem functions, especially in wetland systems. Here, we present 24 metagenomes from a coastal freshwater wetland experiment in which we manipulated hydrologic conditions and plant presence. These wetland soil metagenomes will deepen our understanding of how hydrology and vegetation influence microbial functional diversity.

Complete Genome Sequences of Four Natural Pseudomonas Isolates That Catabolize a Wide Range of Aromatic Compounds Relevant to Lignin Valorization

Many soil microorganisms have evolved catabolic strategies to utilize phenolic compounds arising from depolymerized lignin. We report the complete genome sequences of four Pseudomonas sp. isolates that demonstrated robust growth on a wide range of aromatic monomers and dimers that are relevant to the valorization of lignin into value-added chemicals.

Complete Genome Sequences of Five Isolated Pseudomonas Strains that Catabolize Pentose Sugars and Aromatic Compounds Obtained from Lignocellulosic Biomass

We report on complete genome sequences of five Pseudomonas soil isolates that are capable of metabolizing pentose sugars and aromatic monomers. These complete genome sequence data provide insight into possible alternative hosts for the production of biofuels and bio-based chemicals from lignocellulosic feedstock.

Whole-Genome Sequence of Brevibacillus borstelensis SDM, Isolated from a Sorghum-Adapted Microbial Community

The isolation of novel microbes from environmental samples continues to be a key strategy for the discovery of new metabolic capacities for the degradation and transformation of lignocellulose. We report the draft genome sequence of a new strain of Brevibacillus borstelensis isolated from a sorghum-adapted microbial community derived from a compost sample.
