Genome sequences of key bacterial symbionts of entomopathogenic nematodes: Xenorhabdus cabanillasii DSM17905, Xenorhabdus ehlersii DSM16337, Xenorhabdus japonica DSM16522, Xenorhabdus koppenhoeferii DSM18168, and Xenorhabdus mauleonii DSM17908

ABSTRACT Xenorhabdus species are bacterial symbionts of entomopathogenic Steinernema nematodes, in which they produce diverse secondary metabolites implicated in pathogenesis. To expand resources for natural product prospecting and exploration of host-symbiont-pathogen relationships, the genomes of Xenorhabdus cabanillasi, Xenorhabdus ehlersii , Xenorhabdus japonica , Xenorhabdus koppenhoeferii , and Xenorhabdus mauleonii were analyzed.

Transcriptomic Data Sets for Zymomonas mobilis 2032 during Fermentation of Ammonia Fiber Expansion (AFEX)-Pretreated Corn Stover and Switchgrass Hydrolysates

The transcriptomes of Zymomonas mobilis 2032 were captured during the fermentation of ammonia fiber expansion (AFEX)-pretreated corn stover and switchgrass hydrolysates containing different concentrations of glucose and xylose. RNA samples were collected when Z. mobilis was fermenting glucose or xylose. Here, we present transcriptome sequencing (RNA-Seq) data obtained during separate phases of glucose or xylose consumption.

COnTORT: COmprehensive Transcriptomic ORganizational Tool for Simultaneously Retrieving and Organizing Numerous Gene Expression Data Sets from the NCBI Gene Expression Omnibus Database

We introduce COnTORT ( CO mprehensive T ranscriptomic OR ganizational T ool), a publicly available program that retrieves all available gene expression data and associated metadata for an organism from the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. The data are compiled into text files that can be used for downstream bioinformatic applications.

Metagenome-assembled genomes of freshwater Hyphomicrobium sp. G-191 and Methylophilus sp. enriched from Cedar Swamp, Woods Hole, MA

ABSTRACT Hyphomicrobium are facultative denitrifying anaerobes capable of using one-carbon compounds as a sole carbon source. Hyphomicrobium sp. G-191 was enriched from Cedar Swamp, Woods Hole, Massachusetts, using a selective medium for methanol-utilizing bacteria. We present two draft metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) of a Hyphomicrobium and a Methylophilus species.

Genome Sequences of Frankineae sp. Strain MT45 and Jatrophihabitans sp. Strain GAS493, Two Actinobacteria Isolated from Forest Soil

Frankiaceae are bacterial endosymbionts that are also found free-living in soil. Here, we present the genome sequences of two novel bacterial members of the order Frankiales , class Actinobacteria , isolated from temperate terrestrial forest soils. The genomes for MT45 and GAS493 indicate a genetic capacity for carbohydrate degradation but not nitrogen fixation.

Complete Genome Sequence of Starkeya sp. Strain ORNL1, a Soil Alphaproteobacterium Isolated from the Rhizosphere of Populus deltoides

ABSTRACT Starkeya sp. strain ORNL1 is an alphaproteobacterium isolated from the rhizosphere of an Eastern cottonwood tree. Starkeya spp. are physiologically versatile, using a wide range of nutritional and energetic resources and serving important ecological roles in carbon and sulfur cycling. The 6.3-Mb chromosome of Starkeya sp. strain ORNL1 was completely sequenced and will help in understanding nutrient cycles.

Draft Genome Sequence of Scheffersomyces spartinae ARV011, a Marine Yeast Isolate

We report the draft genome sequence of Scheffersomyces spartinae ARV011, which was isolated from the Great Sippewissett Marsh in Falmouth, Massachusetts. Sequencing was performed using the Illumina NovaSeq 6000 platform, yielding 7,598,030 read pairs 250 bp in length. This resulted in a total draft genome size of 12,132,557 bp.

Draft Genome Sequence of Pseudenhygromyxa sp. Strain WMMC2535, a Marine Ascidian-Associated Bacterium

Pseudenhygromyxa WMMC2535, a representative of the myxobacteria (family Nannocystaceae ), was isolated from a ragged sea hare in the Florida Keys, and its genome was sequenced using PacBio technology. The WMMC2535 genome sequence is the first of this genus and validates the notion that myxobacteria represent outstanding sources of structurally diverse natural products.

Terabase Metagenome Sequencing of Grassland Soil Microbiomes

ABSTRACT To enable an in-depth survey of the metabolic potential of complex soil microbiomes, we performed ultra-deep metagenome sequencing, collecting >1 Tb of sequence data from three grassland soils representing different precipitation regimes.

Friend or Foe: Draft Genome Sequence of Bradyrhizobium sp. Strain SRS-191

We report the genomic features of Bradyrhizobium sp. strain SRS-191, which was isolated from a former nuclear legacy site in Aiken, South Carolina, USA. With a genome size of 7,621,400 bp, the strain harbored genes not only for environmentally beneficial traits (e.g., heavy metal resistance, nitrogen fixation, and aromatic biodegradation) but also for antimicrobial resistance.

High-Quality Draft Genome Sequence of Fischerella thermalis JSC-11, a Siderophilic Cyanobacterium with Bioremediation Potential

Here, we report the draft genome sequence of the siderophilic cyanobacterium Fischerella thermalis JSC-11, which was isolated from an iron-depositing hot spring. JSC-11 has bioremediation potential because it is capable of both extracellular absorption and intracellular mineralization of colloidal iron. This genomic information will facilitate the exploration of JSC-11 for bioremediation.
