Metagenomes and Metagenome-Assembled Genomes from Microbiomes Metabolizing Thin Stillage from an Ethanol Biorefinery

Here, we report the metagenomes from five anaerobic bioreactors, operated under different conditions, that were fed carbohydrate-rich thin stillage from a corn starch ethanol plant. The putative functions of the abundant taxa identified here will inform future studies of microbial communities involved in valorizing this and other low-value agroindustrial residues.

Metagenome-Assembled Genomes from a Microbiome Grown in Dairy Manure Hydrolysate

Anaerobic microbiomes can be used to recover the chemical energy in agroindustrial and municipal wastes as useful products. Here, we report a total of 109 draft metagenome-assembled genomes from a bioreactor-fed carbohydrate-rich dairy manure hydrolysate. Studying these genomes will aid us in deciphering the metabolic networks in anaerobic microbiomes.

Metagenomes and Metagenome-Assembled Genomes from Microbial Communities Fermenting Ultrafiltered Milk Permeate

Fermentative microbial communities can be utilized for the conversion of various agroindustrial residues into valuable chemicals. Here, we report 34 metagenomes from anaerobic bioreactors fed lactose-rich ultrafiltered milk permeate and 278 metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs). These MAGs can inform future studies aimed at generating renewable chemicals from dairy and other agroindustrial residues.

Genome Sequences of Burkholderia thailandensis Strains E421, E426, and DW503

ABSTRACT We present the draft genome sequences of three Burkholderia thailandensis strains, E421, E426, and DW503. E421 consists of 90 contigs of 6,639,935 bp and 67.73% GC content. E426 consists of 106 contigs of 6,587,853 bp and 67.73% GC content. DW503 consists of 102 contigs of 6,458,767 bp and 67.64% GC content.

The Roseibium album (Labrenzia alba) Genome Possesses Multiple Symbiosis Factors Possibly Underpinning Host-Microbe Relationships in the Marine Benthos

Here, we announce the genomes of eight Roseibium album (synonym Labrenzia alba ) strains that were obtained from the octocoral Eunicella labiata . Genome annotation revealed multiple symbiosis factors common to all genomes, such as eukaryotic-like repeat protein- and multidrug resistance-encoding genes, which likely underpin symbiotic relationships with marine invertebrate hosts.

Thaumarchaea Genome Sequences from a High Arctic Active Layer

The role of archaeal ammonia oxidizers often exceeds that of bacterial ammonia oxidizers in marine and terrestrial environments but has been understudied in permafrost, where thawing has the potential to release ammonia. Here, three thaumarchaea genomes were assembled and annotated from metagenomic data sets from carbon-poor Canadian High Arctic active-layer cryosols.

Metatranscriptomic Sequencing of Winter and Spring Planktonic Communities from Lake Erie, a Laurentian Great Lake

Previous reports suggest planktonic and under-ice winter microbial communities in Lake Erie are dominated by diatoms. Here, we report the assembled metatranscriptomes of 79 Lake Erie surface water microbial communities spanning both the winter (28 samples) and spring (51 samples) months over spatial, temporal, and climatic gradients in 2019 through 2020.

Near-complete genome sequence of Lipomyces tetrasporous NRRL Y-64009, an oleaginous yeast capable of growing on lignocellulosic hydrolysates

ABSTRACT Lipomyces tetrasporous is an oleaginous yeast that can utilize a variety of plant-based sugars. It accumulates lipids during growth on lignocellulosic biomass hydrolysates. We present the annotated genome sequence of L. tetrasporous NRRL Y-64009 to aid in its development as a platform organism for producing lipids and lipid-based bioproducts.

Draft genome sequence of Yarrowia lipolytica NRRL Y-64008, an oleaginous yeast capable of growing on lignocellulosic hydrolysates

ABSTRACT Yarrowia lipolytica is an oleaginous yeast that produces high titers of fatty acid-derived biofuels and biochemicals. It can grow on hydrophobic carbon sources and lignocellulosic hydrolysates. The genome sequence of Y. lipolytica NRRL Y-64008 is reported to aid in its development as a biotechnological chassis for producing biofuels and bioproducts.

Genome-sequenced bacterial collection from sorghum aerial root mucilage

ABSTRACT A collection of 47 bacteria isolated from the mucilage of aerial roots of energy sorghum is available at the Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center, Michigan State University, Michigan, USA. We enriched bacteria with putative plant-beneficial phenotypes and included information on phenotypic diversity, taxonomy, and whole genome sequences.

A high-throughput structural system biology approach to increase structure representation of proteins from Clostridioides difficile

ABSTRACT Clostridioides difficile causes life-threatening gastrointestinal infections. It is a high-risk pathogen due to a lack of effective treatments, antimicrobial resistance, and a poorly conserved genomic core. Herein, we report 30 X-ray structures from a structure genomics pipeline spanning 13 years, representing 10.2% of the X-ray structures for this important pathogen.
