Development advancements of the Supersonic Cruise Aircraft are discussed including environmental engineering aircraft structures and materials and design integration.
The MACSYMA program for symbolic and algebraic manipulation enables exact, symbolic mathematical computations to be performed on a computer. This program is rather large, and various approaches to the hardware and software problems are examined.
Control theory and the design of manipulators, teleoperators, and robots are considered. Applications of remotely manned vehicles to space maintenance and orbital assembly, industry and productivity, undersea operations, and rehabilitation systems are emphasized.
Compositionally, lunar mare basalts are similar to some very young subalkaline basalts from terrestrial mid-ocean ridges and to very old pods of basaltic material incorporated into ancient metamorphic rocks. Basalt flows in Mare Imbrium are considered, taking into account the results of orbital gamma ray spectroscopic studies. The results of the analyses of lunar samples obtained from the Apollo missions are evaluated and various models are discussed in connection with an interpretation of the observed conditions.
The present collection of papers outlines advances in ultrasonography, scintigraphy, and commercialization of medical technology as applied to cardiovascular diagnosis in research and clinical practice. Particular attention is given to instrumentation, image processing and display. As necessary concomitants to mathematical analysis, recently improved magnetic recording methods using tape or disks and high-speed computers of large capacity are coming into use. Major topics include Doppler ultrasonic techniques, high-speed cineradiography, three-dimensional imaging of the myocardium with isotopes, sector-scanning echocardiography, and commercialization of the echocardioscope. Individual items are announced in this issue.
A Skylab overview is presented and the solar observation programs are examined, taking into account the operational aspects of Skylab, the XUV sun as observed by ATM S082, a classification of flares and flarelike events observed during the Skylab mission, a preliminary analysis of extreme ultraviolet and X-ray observations, and initial results from the EUV spectroheliometer on ATM. Attention is given to ultraviolet stellar spectra obtained with Skylab experiment S019, multicolor photometry of low-light level phenomena from Skylab, Skylab observations of comet Kohoutek, relativistic iron in space and its nuclear progeny, Skylab altimeter applications and scientific results, neutron and proton activation measurements from Skylab, Skylab D024 thermal control coatings and polymeric films experiment, the stability of liquid dispersions in low gravity, observations of the liquid/solid interface in low-gravity melting, and student experiments on Skylab. Individual items are announced in this issue and in issue 02, 1975.
Attention is given to lunar core studies (multi-core, deep drill, and drive tube), surface soil studies (petrography and geochemistry, light and volatile element studies, and agglutinate related studies), and surfaces process studies. Also considered are mare basalts, with emphasis on mineralogy and petrology, chemical and isotopic studies, and constraints and models of basalt evolution, along with breccia and highland samples with attention given to geochronology, boulders and consortium studies and the formation of highland samples. Remote sensing and photogeology of the moon, crustal bombardment, physical properties of the moon, and comparative planetology are also discussed.
Papers are presented on practical aspects of commercial STOL operations, a Vertical Attitude Takeoff and Landing (VATOL) program, powered-lift STOL ground effects, conceptual design studies of Navy Type A V/STOL aircraft, and a V/STOL shaft propulsion system analytical performance model. Also considered are the management of swirling flows with application to wind tunnel design and V/STOL testing, flight control testing of the VAK-191B, and surface fluctuating pressure measurements on a 1/4-scale YC-14 boilerplate model.
Attention is given to supervisory control of remote manipulation, an automatic device for measuring viscoelasticity, adaptable programmable assembly systems for teleoperator applications, and proximity sensor technology for manipulator end effectors. Also considered are control and stability problems of remote orbital capture, orbital servicing and remotely manned systems, gray-level transformations for interactive image enhancement, and the design of a three-fingered hand

Aerospace environments are reviewed in reference to spacecraft charging. Modelling, a theoretical scheme which can be used to describe the structure of the sheath around the spacecraft and to calculate the charging currents within, is discussed. Materials characterization is considered for experimental determination of the behavior of typical spacecraft materials when exposed to simulated geomagnetic substorm conditions. Materials development is also examined for controlling and minimizing spacecraft charging or at least for distributing the charge in an equipotential manner, using electrical conductive surfaces for materials exposed to space environment.
Spacecraft charging technology is presented, including specifications and design. Mission objectives for launching the SAMSO 402 spacecraft are given to determine and analyze payload requirements. Engineering payloads, energy range of particle detectors, and orbital parameters are represented in graphical form.
Topics covered include: the regional geology, geochemistry, and geophysics of Mare Crisium and the Luna 24 landing site; the petrology, mineral chemistry, and cooling histories of lithic fragments, the chemistry, isotopic studies, and geochronology of Luna 24 samples; and regolith studies of soil samples. Subject and topical indexes are provided.
The origin and evolution of the solar system is discussed based on ground and satellite observations.
Development of coal feed systems for coal gasification, fluidized bed combustion, and magnetohydrodynamic applications is discussed. Process operations experience, energy conversion efficiency, and environment effects are among the factors considered.
Current and future requirements for research, development, manufacturing and education in the field of hybrid microelectronic technology were discussed.
