Deletion Mutants, Archived Transposon Library, and Tagged Protein Constructs of the Model Sulfate-Reducing Bacterium Desulfovibrio vulgaris Hildenborough

ABSTRACT The dissimilatory sulfate-reducing deltaproteobacterium Desulfovibrio vulgaris Hildenborough (ATCC 29579) was chosen by the research collaboration ENIGMA to explore tools and protocols for bringing this anaerobe to model status. Here, we describe a collection of genetic constructs generated by ENIGMA that are available to the research community.

Draft Genome Sequence of Mercury-Resistant Serratia sp. Strain SRS-8-S-2018

A mercury (Hg)-resistant Serratia sp. strain, SRS-8-S-2018, was isolated, followed by generation of its draft genome sequence, which indicated a genomic size of 5,323,630 bp composed of 5,261 coding sequences. A suite of genomic functions in strain SRS-8-S-2018 was identified, and these likely facilitate survival in a metalliferous soil habitat.

Draft Genome Sequence of Mycobacterium sp. Strain JC1 DSM 3803

Mycobacterium sp. strain JC1 DSM3803 is one of the few known bacteria predicted to possess the xylulose monophosphate (XuMP) pathway of C1 carbon assimilation. The draft genome is 7,921,603 bp with a GC content of 66.88% and will allow more in depth investigation of the bacterium’s unique metabolisms.

Metagenome-assembled genomes from microbiomes fermenting dairy coproducts

ABSTRACT To advance knowledge of microbial communities capable of fermenting agro-industrial residues into value-added products, we report metagenomes of microbial communities from six anaerobic bioreactors that were fed a mixture of ultra-filtered milk permeate and cottage cheese acid whey. These metagenomes produced 122 metagenome-assembled genomes that represent 34 distinct taxa.

Complete Genome Sequences of the Soil Oxalotrophic Bacterium Cupriavidus oxalaticus Strain Ox1 and Its Derived mCherry-Tagged Strain

Here, we report the complete genome sequences of the soil oxalotrophic bacterium Cupriavidus oxalaticus Ox1 and a derived mCherry-tagged strain. The genome size is approximately 6.69 Mb, with a GC content of 66.9%. The genome sequence of C. oxalaticus Ox1 contains a complete operon for the degradation and assimilation of oxalate.

Metagenomes from 25 Low-Abundance Microbes in a Partial Nitritation Anammox Microbiome

Microbial communities using anammox bacteria to remove nitrogen are increasingly important in wastewater treatment. We report on 25 metagenome-assembled genomes of low-abundance microbes from a partial nitritation anammox bioreactor system that have not been described previously. These data add to the body of information about this important wastewater treatment system.

Genome-Resolved Metagenomics of a Photosynthetic Bioreactor Performing Biological Nutrient Removal

Enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR) is an economically and environmentally significant wastewater treatment process for removing excess phosphorus by harnessing the metabolic physiologies of enriched microbial communities. We present a genome-resolved metagenomic data set consisting of 86 metagenome-assembled genome sequences from a photosynthetically operated lab-scale bioreactor simulating EBPR.

Shotgun metagenomics analysis indicates Bradyrhizobium spp. as the predominant genera for heavy metal resistance and bioremediation in a long-term heavy metal-contaminated ecosystem

ABSTRACT Ten soil cores were collected from the long-term heavy metal-contaminated Savannah River Site (SRS) and studied using shotgun metagenomics. In-line with our previous reports, Bradyrhizobium spp. dominated the SRS soils, and thus we recommend that SRS bioremediation studies target the Bradyrhizobium genus.

Metagenome Sequencing to Explore Phylogenomics of Terrestrial Cyanobacteria

Cyanobacteria are ubiquitous microorganisms with crucial ecosystem functions, yet most knowledge of their biology is from aquatic taxa. We have constructed metagenomes for 50 taxonomically well-characterized terrestrial cyanobacterial cultures. These data will support phylogenomic studies of evolutionary relationships and gene content among these unique algae and their aquatic relatives.
