Digital computer model was devised for determining thermal and solar radiation interchange factors. Program computes interchange factors among surfaces having any combination of following properties: diffuse emittance and reflectance, diffuse emittance and specular reflectance, diffuse emittance and components of diffuse and specular reflectance, and directional emittance and bidirectional reflectances.
Method, developed and coded for digital computation, predicts aerodynamic loading on configurations for which linear theory assumptions are violated. Program is written in FORTRAN 4 for use on CDC-6000 series computers.
Digital computer program written in FORTRAN 4 has capability of synthesizing low order compensators to stabilize dynamical system in presence of parameter variations. Design scheme is accomplished by means of sensitivity function which is minimized with respect to eigenvalues.
Integrated system is described which replaces several instruments normally used to analyze acoustical data in failure detection of mechanical or fluid systems. Analysis system extracts and measures repetitive waveforms superimposed on noisy background and compares amplitude with internally stored waveforms. Equipment used in system may be interfaced with general purpose digital computer.
A digital computer program was developed which analyzes any radial rib antenna with ribs radiating from a central hub. The program has the capability for calculating the antenna surface contour (reversed pillowing effect), the optimum rib shape for minimizing the rms surface error, and the actual rms surface error. Rib deflection due to mesh tension and catenary cable tension can also be compensated for, and the pattern from which the mesh gores are cut can be determined.
The problem of tracking Alpha voltage variations in an electroencephalogram is discussed. This problem is important in encephalographic studies of sleep and effects of different stimuli on the brain. Very often the Alpha voltage is tracked by passing the EEG signal through a bandpass filter centered at the Alpha frequency, which hopefully will filter out unwanted noise from the Alpha activity. Some alternative digital techniques are suggested and their performance is compared with the standard technique. These digital techniques can be used in an environment where an electroencephalograph is interfaced with a small digital computer via an A/D convertor. They have the advantage that statistical statements about their variability can sometimes be made so that the effect sought can be assessed correctly in the presence of random fluctuations.
