Supply-Chain Optimization Template

The Supply-Chain Optimization Template (SCOT) is an instructional guide for identifying, evaluating, and optimizing (including re-engineering) aerospace- oriented supply chains. The SCOT was derived from the Supply Chain Council s Supply-Chain Operations Reference (SCC SCOR) Model, which is more generic and more oriented toward achieving a competitive advantage in business.

Symbolic Computation of Strongly Connected Components Using Saturation

Finding strongly connected components (SCCs) in the state-space of discrete-state models is a critical task in formal verification of LTL and fair CTL properties, but the potentially huge number of reachable states and SCCs constitutes a formidable challenge. This paper is concerned with computing the sets of states in SCCs or terminal SCCs of asynchronous systems. Because of its advantages in many applications, we employ saturation on two previously proposed approaches: the Xie-Beerel algorithm and transitive closure. First, saturation speeds up state-space exploration when computing each SCC in the Xie-Beerel algorithm. Then, our main contribution is a novel algorithm to compute the transitive closure using saturation. Experimental results indicate that our improved algorithms achieve a clear speedup over previous algorithms in some cases. With the help of the new transitive closure computation algorithm, up to 10(exp 150) SCCs can be explored within a few seconds.

Stress Corrosion Cracking of Metals in Propellants

Stress corrosion cracking (SCC) of a fracture critical metallic material can cause a premature failure if the material is susceptible in the unique service environment. Material fluid compatibility is an area of interest for the current NASA programs leading the human exploration path to Mars. White Sands Test Facility, the agency's lead on hypergolic propellant testing, identifies a lack in stress corrosion cracking susceptibility data for metallic materials in hypergolic propellants. The development of a stress corrosion cracking screening method is necessary to bridge the knowledge gap and enable the community to more confidently select materials for the use in systems containing corrosive fluids.

Stress Corrosion Evaluation of NiTiHf Alloy for the International Space Station Environmental Control and Life Support System

A stress corrosion evaluation was performed on NiTiHf alloy because this material is considered a bearing material candidate for the Environmental Control and Life Support System. Stressed round tensile specimens survived exposures to alternate pretreat, alternate brine, baseline pretreat, baseline brine, and 3.5% NaCl alternate immersion. Metallographic evaluations did not detect stress corrosion on exposed samples. The ultimate tensile strength values varied significantly for this material, which is common for bearing materials. This variation was observed on both, exposed and nonexposed specimens. The results of this work indicate that this material has potential applications as a bearing material.

Stress Corrosion Evaluation of Inconel X-750 for the International Space Station Environmental Control and Life Support System

Inconel X-750 alloy was evaluated for stress corrosion in support of the International Space Station Environmental Control and Life Support System. Round tensile specimens that were obtained from 0.25 in thick material successfully completed 365 days of exposure to baseline pretreat, baseline brine, alternate pretreat, alternate brine, and 3.5% NaCl alternate immersion without any failures at stresses of up to 90% of the yield strength. Posttest evaluations consisting of metallography and tensile testing did not indicate stress corrosion susceptibility.
