A multifaceted study supporting the NASA programs to develop a space electrophoresis capability has been conducted. The study involved principally the technique of continuous free electrophoresis. It comprised a critical review of the art, study of new techniques for enhancing resolution and stability, and construction and initial testing of a high resolution cell. The effort resulted in a significant advance in free electrophoresis technique. It has provided also a much improved base for developments exploiting the added advantages of a zero-gravity environment.
Footprint plots of the Mariner 9 television mapping of the Martian surface from Rev 100 through Rev 676, and catalogs of the pictures and their quadrangle locations are presented.
A compilation of Mariner 9 television data is presented for the study of the planet Mars and of its two satellites, Phobos and Deimos. The concept of the basic mission, camera characteristics, and various processing techniques of the raw television data recovered from the spacecraft are discussed. Data are arranged into the following disciplines; (1) mapping and geology, (2) polar studies, (3) geodesy, (4) variable surface features, (5) atmospheric phenomena, and (6) satellites. Reproduction and arrangements of approximately 3000 individual pictures and photomosaics are provided.
A design criterion for input functions in laboratory tracking tasks resulting in efficient parameter estimation is formulated. The criterion is that the statistical correlations between pairs of parameters be reduced in order to minimize the problem of nonuniqueness in the extraction process. The effectiveness of the method is demonstrated for a lower order dynamic system.

The Chesapeake Bay plume study called Superflux is described. The study was initiated to incorporate the disciplines of both resources management and remote sensing in accomplishing the following objectives: (1) process oriented research to understand the impact of estuarine outflows on continental shelf ecosystems; (2) monitoring and assessment to delineate the role of remote sensing in future monitoring and assessment programs; and (3) remote sensing research: to advance the state of the art in remote sensing systems as applied to sensing of the marine environment, thereby hastening the day when remote sensing can be used operationally for monitoring and assessment and for process oriented research.
