Persistence Control of Engineered Functions in Complex Soil Microbiomes (PerCon SFA), Secure Biosystems Design Project Data Catalog at PNNL DataHub

The Persistence Control of Engineered Functions in Complex Soil Microbiomes Project (PerCon SFA) at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is a Genomic Sciences Program Biosystems Design, Science Focus Area research project consortium. Collaborating across highly integrated institutions, PerCon SFA scientists are exploring how environmental niches can be sculpted using the mechanisms of genome reduction and metabolic addiction to drive secure rhizosphere community design for robust biomass cropping in challenging environments. The PerCon SFA DataHub project repository contains publication-relevant digital dataset and metadata DOI packages, enabling exploration and download of integrated experimental dataset catalogs publicly available to a global scientific community. and metadata repository allow for exploring and downloading integrated experimental biodesign omics dataset catalogs, including experimental protocols and/or workflows, raw and/or processed data, as required by the repository, and other relevant supporting materials and/or metadata required for research reproducibility and reporting.

Specifications and a Prototype Software to Demonstrate a Data Catalog for Hanford Datasets

Environmental management activities at the Hanford Site produce extensive data about site conditions, contaminants, and cleanup activities. Managing, archiving, and accessing that data requires a high degree of collaboration among site contractors and a high level of awareness by project managers and staff. The Hanford Site has a range of databases (e.g., Hanford Environmental Information System [HEIS]) and their associated user interfaces (e.g., Environmental Dashboard Application [EDA], Virtual Library [VL]), as well as other document management systems (e.g., Integrated Document Management System [IDMS]). However, Hanford lacks a single unified resource to find data (which itself comes in multiple formats) amongst the multiple disparate systems, not to mention ad hoc data not contained in an official repository/database.

Skylab earth resources data catalog

An index of EREP photographs is provided along with information on how EREP data can be obtained. Suggestions are presented for possible utilization of the data in the following areas: land resource management; water resources; marine resources; landform surveys, geologic mapping, and mineral resources; agriculture, forest, and range resources; and environmental applications. It is intended to stimulate potential users to apply the data to their respective fields of interest.

Greenland 1979 microwave remote sensing data catalog report, 14-15 October 1979

Microwave remote sensing measurements were cataloged for active and passive instruments in support of the 1979 Greenland Remote Sensing Experiment. Instruments used in this field experiment include the stepped frequency microwave radiometer (4 to 8 GHz) and the airborne microwave scatterometer (14.6 GHz). The microwave signature data are inventoried and cataloged in a user friendly format and are available on 9 track computer compatible tapes upon request.

GSOSTATS Database: USAF Synchronous Satellite Catalog Data Conversion Software. User's Guide and Software Maintenance Manual, Version 2.1

The United States Air Force (USAF) provides NASA Lewis Research Center with monthly reports containing the Synchronous Satellite Catalog and the associated Two Line Mean Element Sets. The USAF Synchronous Satellite Catalog supplies satellite orbital parameters collected by an automated monitoring system and provided to Lewis Research Center as text files on magnetic tape. Software was developed to facilitate automated formatting, data normalization, cross-referencing, and error correction of Synchronous Satellite Catalog files before loading into the NASA Geosynchronous Satellite Orbital Statistics Database System (GSOSTATS). This document contains the User's Guide and Software Maintenance Manual with information necessary for installation, initialization, start-up, operation, error recovery, and termination of the software application. It also contains implementation details, modification aids, and software source code adaptations for use in future revisions.

Tiros IV Radiation Data Catalog and Users' Manual

The TIROS IV Meteorological Satellite contains a medium resolution scanning radiometer. Two of the channels of this instrument are sensitive to reflected solar radiation and the remaining two respond to emitted thermal radiation from the earth and its atmosphere. The two thermal channels are calibrated in terms of equivalent blackbody temperatures, and the reflected solar radiation channels in terms of effective radiant emittances. The calibration data, along with orbital and attitude data and the radiation data from the satellite, were incorporated in a computer program for an IBM 7090 which was used to produce, in binary form, the "Final Meteorological Radiation Tape" which is the basic repository of all radiation data. After launch, the radiometer displaye d the same degradation of response characteristics as did its predecessors in TIROS II and TIROS III. The onset of degradation results in a departure of the data from the prelaunch laboratory calibration. The cause of degradation has not been determined, and the matter is still being studied at the Goddard Space Flight Center. Before work with the TIROS IV radiation data is attempted, an understanding of the radiometer, its calibration, and the problems encountered in the experiment, especially from response degradation, is essential. The instrumentation design, development work, and the calibrations herein described were performed by the Goddard Space Flight Center Staff, whereas the computer and programming efforts were carried out jointly by the staffs of the National Weather Satellite Center, U. S. Weather Bureau, and the Goddard Space Flight Center. In this Catalog-Manual, the radiometer an d its calibration, data processing, the "Final Meteorological Radiation Tape", the observed degradation patterns, and possible corrections for degradation are discussed. The Catalog-Manual also includes, in two forms, documentation of each orbit of successfully reduced radiation data acquired by TIROS IV. One method of presentation is the Index of Final Meteorological Radiation Tapes and the other is a Subpoint Track, Summary of Available Radiation Data in diagrammatic form.

Data catalog series for space science and applications flight missions. Volume 4A: Descriptions of meteorological and terrestrial applications spacecraft and investigations

The National Space Science Data Center (NSSDC) provides data from and information about space science and applications flight investigations in support of additional studies beyond those performed as the principal part of any flight mission. The Earth-orbiting spacecraft for investigations of the earth and its atmosphere is discussed. Geodetic tracking data are included in this category. The principal subject areas presented are meteorology and earth resources survey, and the spacecraft selection is made according to those subjects. All experiments on board the spacecraft are described. No attempt is made to reference investigations that are related to the above disciplines, but that are described in other volumes of this series.

Data catalog for JPL Physical Oceanography Distributed Active Archive Center (PO.DAAC)

The Physical Oceanography Distributed Active Archive Center (PO.DAAC) archive at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory contains satellite data sets and ancillary in-situ data for the ocean sciences and global-change research to facilitate multidisciplinary use of satellite ocean data. Geophysical parameters available from the archive include sea-surface height, surface-wind vector, surface-wind speed, surface-wind stress vector, sea-surface temperature, atmospheric liquid water, integrated water vapor, phytoplankton pigment concentration, heat flux, and in-situ data. PO.DAAC is an element of the Earth Observing System Data and Information System and is the United States distribution site for TOPEX/POSEIDON data and metadata.

Data Catalog Project - A Browsable, Searchable, Metadata System

Modern experiments are typically conducted by large, extended, where researchers rely on other team members to produce much of the data they use. The experiments record very large numbers of measurements which can be difficult for users to find, access and understand. We are developing a system for users to annotate their data products with structured metadata, providing data consumers with a discoverable, browsable data index. Machine understandable metadata captures the underlying semantics of the recorded data, which can then be consumed by both programs, and interactively by users. Collaborators can use these metadata to select and understand recorded measurements.
