Identifying $\textit{f}$-electron symmetries of UTe 2 with O-edge resonant inelastic x-ray scattering

The recent discovery of spin-triplet superconductivity emerging from a nonmagnetic parent state in UTe 2 has stimulated great interest in the underlying mechanism of Cooper pairing. Experimental characterization of short-range electronic and magnetic correlations is vital to understanding these phenomena. Here we use resonant inelastic x-ray scattering (RIXS), x-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS), and atomic-multiplet-based modeling to shed light on the active debate between $5f^26d^1$-based models with singlet crystal field states versus $5f^3$-based models that predict atomic Kramers doublets and much greater $5\textit{f}$ itinerancy. In this work, the XAS and RIXS data are found to agree strongly with predictions for a $5f^26d^1$-like valence electron configuration with weak intradimer magnetic correlations, and provide a context for interpreting recent investigations of the electronic structure and superconducting pairing mechanism.

Mirror at the edge of the universe: Reflections on an accelerated boundary correspondence with de Sitter cosmology

An accelerated boundary correspondence (ABC) is solved for the de Sitter moving mirror cosmology. The beta Bogoliubov coefficients reveal the particle spectrum is a Planck distribution with temperature inversely proportional to horizon radius. The quantum stress tensor indicates a constant emission of energy flux consistent with eternal equilibrium, while the total energy carried by the particles remains finite. In conclusion, the curved spacetime transformation to flat spacetime with an accelerated boundary is illustrated, and also shown for anti-de Sitter (AdS) spacetime.

Data-driven Modeling for Grid Edge IBRs: A Digital Twin Perspective of User-Defined Models

Recent events in Odessa have brought attention to the challenges associated with the interaction between Inverter- Based Resources (IBRs) and the transmission and distribution system. The NERC event diagnosis report has highlighted sev- eral issues, emphasizing the need for continuous performance monitoring of these IBRs by system operators. Key areas of concern include the mismatch of control and protection perfor- mance of IBRs between the original equipment manufacturer (OEM)-provided models and field measurements. The inability to replicate the realistic response can result in incorrect reliability and resilience studies. In this paper, we developed an approach on how to emulate the behavior of an IBR using measurement data obtained for system operators to utilize in real-time and long- term planning. Two experiments are conducted in the phasor domain and electromagnetic transients (EMT) domain to emulate the behavior for grid forming and grid following inverters under various operating conditions and the effectiveness of the proposed model is demonstrated in terms of accuracy and ease of utilizing user-defined models (UDMs)
