A particle accelerator can include a first waveguide portion and a second waveguide portion. The first waveguide portion can include a first plurality of cell portions and a first iris portion that is disposed between two of the first plurality of cell portions. The first iris portion can include a first portion of an aperture such that the aperture is configured to be disposed about a beam axis. The first waveguide portion can further include a first bonding surface. The second waveguide portion can include a second plurality of cell portions and a second iris portion that is disposed between two of the second plurality of cell portions. The second iris portion can include a second portion of the aperture. The second waveguide portion can include a second bonding surface.

Conventional refrigerants, e.g. R-410A have high global warming potentials (GWP) > 1800. They are being phased out to protect the environment. The candidates to replace R-410A include R-32, R-452B, R-454B and R-466A for heat pump applications. These candidates are intended for drop-in replacement, i.e. having minimum modifications on existing systems. The paper investigates the low GWP refrigerants drop-in application via system simulations using a well-regarded, hardware-based heat pump model. A baseline heat pump having all fin-and-tube heat exchangers and a two-speed compressor was used. Cross-comparisons were made under rated conditions of ambient temperatures, compressor speeds, indoor air flow rates, respectively for cooling and heating operations. The seasonal performance indices, i.e. SEER and HSPF are presented.

An organic light emitting diode (OLED) device includes an emissive layer having a first sublayer with a first emitter as a dopant, a second sublayer with a second emitter as a dopant, and a third sublayer with a third emitter as a dopant. The second sublayer is between the first sublayer and the third sublayer. A concentration of the first emitter in the first sublayer exceeds a concentration of the third emitter in the third sublayer, and the concentration of the third emitter in the third sublayer exceeds a concentration of the second emitter in the second sublayer.
