Cupriavidus necator DVZ60 was isolated from a sediment trap deployed in an 129I groundwater plume at the Hanford Site (Washington, United States). Genome sequencing of the strain led to the generation of 84 contigs and indicated that the genome is 7.552 Mb in size, with 66.2% GC content.
We report the genome sequence of a polyethylene-degrading bacterial strain identified as Stenotrophomonas maltophilia strain PE591, which was isolated from plastic debris found in savanna soil. The genome was assembled in 16 scaffolds with a length of 4,751,236 bp, a GC content of 66.5%, and 4,432 predicted genes.
ABSTRACT Cellulomonas sp. strain ES6 is a chromate-reducing bacterium isolated from chromium contaminated subsurface sediment. Illumina MiSeq and Oxford Nanopore sequencing were used to assemble the genome sequence which consisted of a single circular chromosome of 4.13 Mb, contained 3,960 protein encoding genes and with an overall G + C content 75.38%.
Enterobacter hormaechei DVZ29 was isolated from a sediment trap incubated in an 129 I plume at the Hanford Site (Washington State, USA). Whole genome sequencing of the strain resulted in 32 contigs and revealed that the genome is 4.90 Mb, with a G+C content of 55.61%.
Pseudomonas strains DVZ6 and DVZ24 were isolated from a sediment trap incubated in an 129 I plume at the Hanford Site (Washington State, USA). Whole-genome sequencing of the strains revealed that both genomes are 5.77 Mb in size, with a G + C content of 64.75%.
Frankiaceae are bacterial endosymbionts that are also found free-living in soil. Here, we present the genome sequences of two novel bacterial members of the order Frankiales , class Actinobacteria , isolated from temperate terrestrial forest soils. The genomes for MT45 and GAS493 indicate a genetic capacity for carbohydrate degradation but not nitrogen fixation.
Roseimicrobium sp. strain ORNL1 is a soil bacterium that belongs to the phylum Verrucomicrobia and was isolated from the rhizosphere of a forest Eastern cottonwood tree, Populus deltoides , in Tennessee. Its 7.9-Mb chromosome was completely sequenced using PacBio long reads and is predicted to encode 6,288 proteins and 76 RNAs.
ABSTRACT Starkeya sp. strain ORNL1 is an alphaproteobacterium isolated from the rhizosphere of an Eastern cottonwood tree. Starkeya spp. are physiologically versatile, using a wide range of nutritional and energetic resources and serving important ecological roles in carbon and sulfur cycling. The 6.3-Mb chromosome of Starkeya sp. strain ORNL1 was completely sequenced and will help in understanding nutrient cycles.
We report the draft genome sequence of Scheffersomyces spartinae ARV011, which was isolated from the Great Sippewissett Marsh in Falmouth, Massachusetts. Sequencing was performed using the Illumina NovaSeq 6000 platform, yielding 7,598,030 read pairs 250 bp in length. This resulted in a total draft genome size of 12,132,557 bp.
Cupriavidus basilensis SRS was isolated from stream sediments from the Savannah River Site in South Carolina. Here, we report the draft genome sequence and annotation of Cupriavidus basilensis SRS. The genome contains 8,918,236 bp and 7,916 predicted protein-coding genes, with a total G+C content of 65.2%.
Forty-two bacterial strains were isolated from root samples of Sorghum bicolor. The strains spanned 17 genera, including Dechloromonas, Duganella, Dyella, Flavobacterium, Herbaspirillum, Lutibacter, Mucilaginibacter, Novosphingobium, Paraburkholderia, Pedobacter, Pleomorphomonas, Rhizobacter, Rhizobium, Rhizomicrobium, Rugamonas, Variovorax, and Xanthobacter. Their whole-genome sequences revealed diverse metabolic processes, including biological nitrogen fixation, in sorghum root microbiota.
We report the genome of Phormidium yuhuli AB48, which includes a circular chromosome and a circular plasmid (4,747,469 bp and 51,599 bp, respectively). This is currently the only closed reference genome of an isolate of the Phormidium genus, based on the Genome Taxonomy Database (GTDB), providing a potential model system for sustainable biotechnology innovation.
Luteolibacter sp. strain Populi is a bacterium from the phylum Verrucomicrobiota, isolated from the rhizosphere of a black cottonwood tree, Populus trichocarpa, from the Cascade mountains in Washington. Its 6.6-Mb chromosome was completely sequenced using Oxford Nanopore long-read sequencing and is predicted to encode 5,301 proteins and 60 RNAs.
We report the genome sequence of Clostridium tetanomorphum DSM 4474T isolated from a septic wound. In addition to its potential as a human pathogen, this species may be useful in biofuel production due to its ability to synthesize butanol without the byproduct acetone. The genome is 4,374,054 bp.
Promicromonospora sp. strain Populi is an actinobacterium isolated from the rhizosphere of a black cottonwood tree, Populus trichocarpa. We completely sequenced its 5.2-Mbp chromosome using Oxford Nanopore long reads and predicted it to encode 4,685 proteins, 3 rRNA operons, and 54 tRNAs and noncoding RNAs.
We present draft genomes of two Paraburkholderia strains and two Burkholderia strains. Three strains were isolated from surrounding soils and one from roots of switchgrass (Panicum virgatum) in Michigan, USA.
The novel fungal strain, Fusarium sp. strain DS 682, was isolated from the rhizosphere of the perennial grass, Bouteloua gracilis , at the Konza Prairie Biological Station in Kansas. This fungal strain is common across North American grasslands and is resilient to environmental fluctuations. The draft genome is estimated to be 97.2% complete.
ABSTRACT Lactobacillus brevis Oregon-R-modENCODE strain BDGP6 was isolated from the gut of Drosophila melanogaster for functional host-microbial interaction studies. The bacterial chromosome is a single circular DNA molecule of 2,785,111 bp with a G+C content of 46%.
