This paper will focus on the selection of frequencies for local links at Mars.
This paper examines various factors affecting the choice of the local link frequency, including link performance, propagation effects, and regulatory issues.
Study of effects of Martian environment on radio wave propagation.
The January 10, 1997 interplanetary pressure pulse (observed at 0053 UT at Wind) caused a dayside aurora, as seen in Polar Ultraviolet Imager (UVI) data, that propagates tailward and to lower L.
Global ionospheric mapping (GIM) is a new, emerging technique for determining global ionospheric TEC (total electron content) based on measurements from a worldwide network of Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers.
Recent Polar plasma wave observations indicate that intense wideband waves are always present in the polar cap boundary layer (PCBL) region.
Using the data from 12 SATLOC GPS stations which are nearly uniformly distributed over the US Continent, we have detected a significant ionospheric TEC disturbance in real time.

We review observations of nonlinear plasma waves detected by interplanetary spacecraft. For this paper we will focus primarily on the phase-steepened properties of such waves. Plasma waves at comet Giacobini-Zinner measured by the International Cometary Explorer (ICE), at comets Halley and Grigg-Skjellerup measured by Giotto, and interplanetary Alfven waves measured by Ulysses, will be discussed and intercompared.
