Passive Charge Dissipating Work Function Matching Coating for Reducing Adhesion of Lunar Dust

The NASA Glenn Research Center Environmental Effects and Coatings Branch is developing a passive coating for lunar dust mitigation. This simple, transparent, conductive coating will be capable of reducing lunar dust adhesion to surfaces and dissipating surface charge. Anticipated benefits include compatibility with active dust mitigation strategies, improved efficiency and performance of solar cells and thermal control surfaces, and protection of astronauts and equipment on the lunar surface.

KSC Child Development Center (PRL 149) Confirmatory Sampling Report and Interim Measures Work Plan

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) permit requires identification and evaluation of known Solid Waste Management Units (SWMU) located at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC). The KSC Child Development Center (KCDC), the “site,” is designated as potential release location (PRL) 149 under the NASA RCRA permit. This report summarizes the results of the Confirmatory Sampling (CS) activities carried out on March 19, 2022, and May 16, 2023, at KCDC, PRL 149, KSC, Florida. This report additionally presents the results of an assessment conducted between July 7 and July 27, 2023, to determine whether construction activities in 2023 to replace certain playground equipment and the rubberized play surface released arsenic (As) contaminated soil.

THEORETICAL STUDY OF ATOMIC AND MOLECULAR GASES AND THEIR REACTIONS IN THE UPPER ATMOSPHERE. SUMMARY OF WORK DONE IN THE PERIOD NOV. 1, 1960 TO APR. 30, 1961

In the previous report it was stated that the major mathematical problems of computations were nearly solved and an attempt is being made to start application of "Tables of Integrals" to the computation of the different states of atoms and molecules. In this respect I like to report that the computation of a number of states of atoms and molecules has been carried out. The results are so far confined only to the equilibrium distance of molecules. We are extending the calculation to other distances so as to compute potential energy curves of different states of molecules. We are also developing Thomas Fermi Statistical model of the atom to verify our results of more accurate calculation. The results so far have been very encouraging and I hope to report some of these results in the next paper.

Recent Work at Langley Research Center in the Development of a Graphite-Heated Small-Scale Hypersonic Nitrogen Tunnel

It is the purpose of this paper to discuss the development of and to present some preliminary data results which were obtained during the operation of a high-pressure-high-temperature induction-type heat exchanger. The subjects to be covered are: (1) An overall description of the induction heater and the various graphite elements tested in the heater; (2) Effects of the mass rate of flow on stagnation temperature; (3) Heat-transfer data on one heater element; (4) Effect of power input on gas stagnation temperature, and (5) The evaluation of mass flow technique as a method for determining true gas stagnation temperature.
