COSMIC: A catalog of selected computer programs

Information is presented on various computer programs developed in the space program which are now available to the public. Many programs from the Department of Defense and selected software from other government agencies are also offered. Over 1500 programs in almost every technical or managerial discipline are available.

Catalog of sea state and wind speed in the South Atlantic Bight

The GEOS 3 significant waveheight and ground wind speed estimation algorithms are derived and then applied to all GEOS 3 data in the South Atlantic Bight. The investigation area is divided into five geographical sectors and significant waveheight and wind speed histograms are presented in each sector by month and by season. In the discussion of the histograms, definite seasonal trends are identified and examined.

Catalog of double lunar swingby orbits for exploring the Earth's geomagnetic tail

Forty three orbits, which are periodic in geocentric reference frames rotating at lunar and at solar rates were found using a patched conic technique. The different orbits provide coverage of different parts of the distant geomagnetic tail. The parameters for 43 sun synchronous double lunar swingby orbits and plots of the sun synchronous double lunar swingby orbits are included.

A catalog of NASA special publications

A list of all of the special publications released by NASA are presented. The list includes scientific and technical books covering a wide variety of topics, including much of the agencies research and development work, its full range of space exploration programs, its work in advancing aeronautics technology, and many associated historical and managerial efforts. A total of 1200 titles are presented.

Viking lander imaging investigation during extended and continuation automatic missions. Volume 1: Lander 1 picture catalog of experiment data record

All images returned by Viking Lander 1 during the extended and continuation automatic phases of the Viking Mission are presented. Listings of supplemental information which describe the conditions under which the images were acquired are included together with skyline drawings which show where the images are positioned in the field of view of the cameras. Subsets of the images are listed in a variety of sequences to aid in locating images of interest. The format and organization of the digital magnetic tape storage of the images are described as well as the mission and the camera system.

A catalog of social surveys of residents' reactions to environmental noise, 1943 - 1980

Two hundred social surveys of people's responses to environmental noise in residential areas are briefly described. The surveys are indexed by country, noise source and date of survey. The publications and reports about each survey are listed in a bibliography. Recent English translations of 14 publications are listed separately. Nineteen surveys are listed which are available for secondary analysis from a data archive.

Viking lander imaging investigation during extended and continuation automatic missions. Volume 2: Lander 2 picture catalog of experiment data record

Images returned by the two Viking landers during the extended and continuation automatic phases of the Viking Mission are presented. Information describing the conditions under which the images were acquired is included with skyline drawings showing the images positioned in the field of view of the cameras. Subsets of the images are listed in a variety of sequences to aid in locating images of interest. The format and organization of the digital magnetic tape storage of the images are described. A brief description of the mission and the camera system is also included.

The Viking Mosaic catalog, volume 1

Martian geographic location information for Viking Orbiter mosaic images is provided. The photographic sequences were chosen based upon image content. The footprinting task was carried out, post factor, in order to facilitate research activities. Early activities were centered around the examination of candidate landing sites.

The Viking Mosaic Catalog, Volume 2

A collection of more than 500 mosaics prepared from Viking Orbiter images is given. Accompanying each mosaic is a footprint plot, which identifies by location, picture number, and order number, each frame in the mosaic. Corner coordinates and pertinent imaging information are also included. A short text provides the camera characteristics, image format, and data processing information necessary for using the mosaic plates as a research aide. Procedures for ordering mosaic enlargements and individual images are also provided.

Preliminary orbital parallax catalog

The study is undertaken to calibrate the more reliable parallaxes derived from a comparison of visual and spectroscopic orbits and to encourage observational studies of other promising binaries. The methodological techniques used in computing orbital parallaxes are analyzed. Tables summarizing orbital data and derived system properties are then given. Also given is a series of detailed discussions of the 71 individual systems included in the tables. Data are listed for 57 other systems which are considered promising candidates for eventual orbital parallax determination.

Development of a radio-astrometric catalog by means of very long baseline interferometry observations

The Jet Propulsion Laboratory has been developing a radio-astrometric catalogue for use in the application of radio interferometry to interplanetary navigation and geodesy. The catalogue consists of approximately 100 compact extragalactic radio sources whose relative positions have formal uncertainties of the order of 0.01 arcsec. The sources cover nearly all of the celestial sphere above -40 deg declination. By using the optical counterparts of many of these radio sources, this radio reference frame has been tied to the FK4 optical system with a global accuracy of approximately 0.1 arcsec. This paper describes the status of this work.

A Catalog of Selected Viking Orbiter Images

This collection of Viking Orbiter photomosaics is designed to facilitate identification and location of the various pictures with respect to the surface of Mars. Only a representative set of the nearly 50,000 images taken by the two Viking Orbiters, and computer-processed prior to December 1978, are contained in the mosaics and in the picture listings.
