Aluminum trihalide-neutral ligand ionic liquids and their use in aluminum deposition

An ionic liquid composition comprising a complex of a trihalo aluminum (III) species with at least one organic uncharged ligand comprising a ring structure having at least three ring carbon atoms and at least one ring heteroatom selected from nitrogen and sulfur, wherein the complex is a liquid at a temperature of 100° C. or less. Methods of electroplating aluminum onto a metallic substrate using the above-described ionic liquid composition are also described.

Autonomous reconfigurable virtual sensing system for cyber-attack neutralization

An industrial asset may be associated with a plurality of monitoring nodes, each monitoring node generating a series of monitoring node values over time representing current operation of the industrial asset. An abnormality detection computer may determine that at least one abnormal monitoring node is currently being attacked or experiencing a fault. A virtual sensing estimator may continuously execute an adaptive learning process to create or update virtual sensor models for the monitoring nodes. Responsive to an indication that a monitoring node is currently being attacked or experiencing a fault, the virtual sensing estimator may be dynamically reconfigured to estimate a series of virtual node values for the abnormal monitoring node or nodes based on information from normal monitoring nodes and appropriate virtual sensor models. The series of monitoring node values from the abnormal monitoring node or nodes may then be replaced with the virtual node values.

Neutral Pion Electroproduction Cross sections from 12 GeV Jefferson Lab for x B > 0 . 3

Nuclear physics aims at understanding structure of the building blocks of the atom, the protons and neutrons in terms of their constituents, the quarks and gluons. Traditionally, this was accomplished through studies of their static properties and the underlying one-dimensional quark and gluon momentum distributions. Over the last few decades, realization has grown that the true study of the proton dynamical structure has to come from more exclusive reactions. These deep exclusive processes describe a subset of unique inelastic processes in which all particles in their final state are detected. Such processes can allow access to Generalized Parton Distributions, or GPDs, a conceptual mechanism that lies at the root of three-dimensional spatial imaging of the proton?s quark-gluon substructure. In particular, photon electroproduction as well as meson electroproduction are two kinds of deep inelastic processes that can allow access to GPDs. Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering (DVCS) is a type of deep inelastic process, and is known as one of the cleanest ways to access GPDs.

Compton Polarimetry for Neutral Weak Form Factor Measurements in 208Pb and 48Ca

Atomic nuclei contain a number of protons and neutrons. Most heavy nuclei contain more neutrons than protons in order to remain stable. The nuclear proton distribution can be measured via elastic scattering of charged particles, but the neutron distribution remains poorly constrained. Nuclear structure theory also predicts a "neutron skin" ?Rnp where the mean radii of neutrons in the nucleus exceeds that of protons. Two experiments were run in 2019 and 2020 to measure the neutron skin in two different nuclei. The first experiment, PREX-II, was designed to measure the neutron skin in 208Pb, while the second experiment, CREX, was designed to measure the neutron skin in 48Ca. Both experiments employed the parity-violating electron scattering (PVES) technique in which longitudinally spin-polarized electrons are scattered off an unpolarized target.
