Low-latency quantum control using AI algorithms on cryogenic microelectronics platforms

Superconducting quantum computers are a particular technology that involve the realization of qubits by means of LC circuits with a Josephson junction. As shown in Fig. 1, this latter addition has the effect of introducing a nonlinearity (anharmonicity) that makes the frequency spacing between each energy level non-uniform. This is a desired effect for separating the two lowest levels, used for computation, from the higher ones, that are theoretically infinite and which are not desired to be used.

AI-Driven Accelerated Inclusion Analysis for Energy Efficient Steelmaking (Final CRADA Report)

This was a collaborative effort between Lawrence Livermore National Security, LLC (LLNS) as manager and operator of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) and ArcelorMittal USA Research LLC (“ArcelorMittal” as the Participant), to use scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images, computer vision and machine learning methods, and high-performance computing to accelerate the inclusion analysis process of liquid steel so that new methods can be used for near-real time process control on the shop floor.

AI and Machine Learning with Encrypted Data (CRADA Final Report)

The proposed project aimed to develop faster algorithms for FHE and zk-SNARKs processing. The research team previously developed a fast Number Theoretic Transform (NTT) and other fast arithmetic algorithms. The project team explored using these fast algorithms to enable FHE and zk-SNARKSs acceleration, with specific attention to how the algorithms would need to be integrated into specific FHE and zk-SNARKs software packages to become useful. Existing FHE/zk-SNARKs software packages have been written for CPUs, however this project’s technology targeted FPGAs and GPUs. The team explored how to modify existing CPU software to support FPGAs/GPUs as well as ways they could implement entirely new software stacks that run purely on FPGAs/GPUs.

Generative AI for Wind-Wave Inflows

Extreme wind-wave conditions can create dangerous or damaging environmental conditions for sea-based structures and watercrafts. However, the model of consistent, coupled wind-wave flow conditions is computational expensive, even for simple flow scenarios. This work examines the use of diffusion-based generative artificial intelligence tools to accelerate the generation of these two-phase flows and to characterize probabilities of various states to help with the generation of extreme patterns.
