Bio-Isolator Suit for aseptic assembly of spacecraft in sterile chamber
Multiplicity of external ribbon leads makes possible connections to a sealed or encapsulated microassembly. The leads are integral with the internal connections on a single part that can be fabricated economically by fine-detail electroplating.

Porous material thoroughly wetted with alcohol shows persistent wet line or area at locations of cracks or porosity. Inspection is qualitative and repeatable, but is used quantitatively with select samples to grade density variations in graphite blocks. Photography is employed to achieve permanent record of results.

Various techniques for the calculation of electron and bremsstrahlung dose deposition are described. Energy deposition, transmission, and reflection coefficients for electrons incident on plane slabs are presented, and methods for their use in electron dose calculations were developed. A method using the straight-ahead approximation was also developed, and the various methods were compared and found to be in good agreement. Both accurate and approximate methods of calculating bremsstrahlung dose were derived and compared. Approximation is found to give a good estimate of dose where the electron spectrum falls off exponentially with energy.
This study is concerned with approximation methods that can be readily applied to estimate the absorbed dose rate from cosmic rays in rads - tissue or rems inside simple geometries of aluminum. The present work is limited to finding the dose rate at the center of spherical shells or behind plane slabs. The dose rate is calculated at tissue-point detectors or for thin layers of tissue. This study considers cosmic-rays dose rates for both free-space and earth-orbiting missions.

Simulation experiments were performed in the NASA Langley Full Scale Tunnel to investigate the retroplume heating rates encountered by a lander vehicle during a terminal descent to a planetary surface. A 10% scale model of the Viking Lander with freestream velocity conditions from 37 to 75 ft/sec was used for simulation. The simulation test data were close to the theoretical predictions of Hill et al. (1971).
Nozzle has been proposed with tip that will punch through wall very quickly. It would allow extinguishing agent to be delivered inside closed structure in minimum amount of time. Two versions of nozzle have been conceived: one operated from hydraulic pressure source and one activated by explosive charge.
