Construction of Liapunov functions

Liapunov functions construction through conversion of differential equation with polynomial nonlinearities into auxiliary exact differential equation using algorithm

Method for constructing periodic orbits in nonlinear dynamic systems

Method is modification of generalized Newton-Ralphson algorithm for analyzing two-point boundary problems. It constructs sequence of solutions that converge to precise dynamic solution in the sequence limit. Program calculates periodic orbits in either circular or elliptical restricted three-body problems.

Foldable patterns form construction blocks

Building blocks with interlocking tabs can be constructed from flat sheets of material using minimum of tools and equipment. Blocks can be used for storing and shipping supplies to remote areas, then filled with soil and stacked to form inhabitable structures which can be dismantled and reused.

Numerical construction of the Hill functions.

As an aid in the numerical construction of Hill functions and their derivatives, an algorithm using local coordinates and an expansion in Legendre polynomials is proposed. The algorithm is shown to possess sufficient stability, and the orthogonality of the Legendre polynomials simplifies the computation when the Ritz-Galerkin technique is used.

Effect of duct shape, Mach number, and lining construction on measured suppressor attenuation and comparison with theory

Noise attenuation was measured for several types of cylindrical suppressors that use a duct lining composed of honeycomb cells covered with a perforated plate. The experimental technique used gave attenuation data that were repeatable and free of noise floors and other sources of error. The suppressor length, the effective acoustic diameter, suppressor shape and flow velocity were varied. The agreement among the attenuation data and two widely used analytical models was generally satisfactory. Changes were also made in the construction of the acoustic lining to measure their effect on attenuation. One of these produced a very broadband muffler.
