Dial-A-Cluster User Manual

The Dial-A-Cluster (DAC) model allows interactive visualization of multivariate time series data. A multivariate time series dataset consists of an ensemble of data points, where each data point consists of a set of time series curves. The example of a DAC dataset used in this guide is a collection of 100 cities in the United States, where each city collects a year's worth of weather data, including daily temperature, humidity, and wind speed measurements.

MSTAR2019 Code Description and User's Manual

This report describes an ideal cascade model of uranium enrichment that includes side feed and side product streams and flexible input options. It is based on the original MSTAR model developed by Ed Von Halle and implemented in a Visual Basic code. The current version allows the user to specify integer numbers of stages or the stage numbers of external flows instead of assays in those flows. The computational engine is written in FORTRAN-90 and is invoked by a user-friendly GUI written in C++. This version of MSTAR has been demonstrated to operate on Linux, Mac, and Windows platforms, and has undergone significant testing and quality analysis. A number of examples are presented to illustrate the operation of the code and guide the user. The code is extremely fast, and results are returned immediately. The input and output have been specially configured for analysis by the environmental sampling team of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). A number of additional output features are included to assist the user in visualizing computational results and downloading data to files for use in other analysis software.

CSRI Summer Proceedings 2020

The Computer Science Research Institute (CSRI) brings university faculty and students to Sandia for focused collaborative research on Department of Energy (DOE) computer and computational science problems. The institute provides an opportunity for university researchers to learn about problems in computer and computational science at DOE laboratories. Participants conduct leading-edge research, interact with scientists and engineers at the laboratories, and help transfer results of their research to programs at the labs. Some specific CSRI research interest areas are: scalable solvers, optimization, adaptivity and mesh refinement, graph-based, discrete, and combinatorial algorithms, uncertainty estimation, mesh generation, dynamic load-balancing, virus and other malicious-code defense, visualization, scalable cluster computers, data-intensive computing, environments for scalable computing, parallel input/output, advanced architectures, and theoretical computer science. The CSRI Summer Program is organized by CSRI and typically includes the organization of a weekly seminar series and the publication of a summer proceedings. In 2020, the CSRI summer program was executed completely virtually; all student interns worked from home, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

COTS Data Analytics Software User Manual: Version 1.0

Large volumes of data are being collected by Sandia National Laboratories as part of an active commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) part testing and surveillance program. This user manual documents Python-based COTS Data Analytics software that has been developed for standardizing, displaying, visualizing, and analyzing the resulting COTS part testing and surveillance data. It is the objective of these software tools to streamline the analysis of COTS testing and surveillance data and improve the efficiency with which test engineers and data analytics experts can pinpoint possible performance and reliability problems in COTS parts.

Data Package of Results from Salt Spill Testing

This document provides or identifies the full suite of data that was measured in laboratory salt spill tests on molten salt spreading and heat transfer, molten salt flowing and freezing in tubing, stainless steel corrosion kinetics in molten salt, and molten salt splashing and aerosol generation. The background, motivation, and methods for the work are explained in detail in an accompanying report (Thomas and Jackson, 2021), which includes representative results for all measurements. Quantitative data are tabulated to facilitate use in follow-on calculations and qualitative data in the form of visual and infrared video files are indexed for reference.

Satellite Enveloped with STITCHED Engineering Sensors for Detection of Approaching Objects

Today as well as tomorrows spaceborne assets impact almost all areas of national and nuclear security. Spaceborne assets can not only collect and disseminate valuable data, well beyond just the visual, but also track terrestrial-based mobile assets in real-time, and active spaceborne platforms potentially pose serious risk to vulnerable earth-based systems and infrastructures. The capability to defend national spaceborne assets from attack/interference is critical for security interests. This effort supports this mission through the cost-effective preeminent detection of approaching threats to our nation’s vital resources, in order to help secure and trust these high-value assets against the threats of tomorrow. This project develops novel fabrication techniques for conformal, low-profile and lightweight leakywave antenna (LWA) detection/imaging systems, which fuses technical embroidery (TE) and laser ablation (LA) processes with LWA design. Technical embroidery is an emerging field in additive textile manufacturing where flexible materials and functionalized fabrics are created for a wide variety of uses and purposes, while laser ablation is the process of removing material from a solid surface by irradiating it with a laser beam. Here, thin, conformal antenna designs are designed, modeled and fabricated using both TE and LA, to create lightweight, flexible and conformal object detection and imaging radars. This novel development ensures our nation’s ability to field advanced lightweight and conformal technologies to protect spaceborne assets.

Waveform Simulation Framework: User Manual with Tutorials

This manuscript describes the Waveform Simulation Framework (WSF), a Python-based framework that provides a unified, programmable interface for generating synthetic seismograms for applications such as seismic array design, method development, and special event analysis. WSF standardizes how users define sources, receivers, and velocity models while abstracting simulator-specific configuration details, enabling workflows that are largely independent of the underlying numerical engine. The document provides installation guidance and tutorial-driven examples for three WSF simulator wrappers—WSF PyFK, WSF SW4, and WSF SPECFEM2D—illustrating end-to-end workflows from forward waveform simulation to common post-processing tasks (e.g., visualization and backprojection) using consistent data products (e.g., ObsPy Stream objects and SAC files).
