Tool reconstructs data input points corresponding to first order output graph

Tool aids in graphic determination of input values for any first order lag system of known gain and time constant where the corresponding output function is displayed graphically and can be described by a first order differential equation. This tool permits a rapid reconstruction of input points.

Application of the principle of corresponding states to two phase choked flow

It is pointed out that several fluids including methane, oxygen, and nitrogen appear to form an average parametric plot which indicates that the isenthalpic Joule-Thomson coefficient must nearly obey the principle of corresponding states. With this as a basis, it was assumed that there could be several thermodynamic flow processes which nearly obey the principle. An examination was made to determine whether two-phase choked flow could be one of them. The analysis is described and the results are given.

ADP correspondence system: Unsolicited proposal evaluation tracking application

A complete description of a correspondence control system, designed to be used by non-ADP clerical personnel is provided. In addition to operating instructions, sufficient design and conceptual information is provided to allow use or adaption of the system in related applications. The complete COBOL program and documentation are available.

On the use of corresponding orbitals in the calculation of nonorthogonal transition moments

Full valence and first-order CI wave functions are invariant with respect to unitary transformations among the valence orbitals. We exploit this degree of freedom and show that by transforming the valence orbitals into a corresponding orbital basis, nonorthogonal transition moment calculations become an easily managed task. Sample full valence calculations on several states of O2(+) and OF are also presented.

Thermodynamic and transport combustion properties of hydrocarbons with air. Part 2: Compositions corresponding to Kelvin temperature schedules in part 1

The equilibrium compositions that correspond to the thermodynamic and transport combustion properties for a wide range of conditions for the reaction of hydrocarbons with air are presented. Initially 55 gaseous species and 3 coin condensed species were considered in the calculations. Only 17 of these 55 gaseous species had equilibrium mole fractions greater than 0.000005 for any of the conditions studied and therefore these were the only ones retained in the final tables.

A statistical evaluation and comparison of VISSR Atmospheric Sounder (VAS) data and corresponding rawinsonde measurements

Three mesoscale sounding data sets from the VISSR Atmospheric Sounder (VAS) produced using different retrieval techniques were evaluated of corresponding ground truth rawinsonde data for 6-7 March 1982. Mean, standard deviations, and RMS differences between the satellite and rawinsonde parameters were calculated over gridded fields in central Texas and Oklahoma. Large differences exist between each satellite data set and the ground truth data. Biases in the satellite temperature and moisture profiles seem extremely dependent upon the three dimensional structure of the atmosphere and range from 1 deg to 3 deg C for temperature and 3 deg to 6 deg C for dewpoint temperature. Atmospheric gradients of basic and derived parameters determined from the VAS data sets produced an adequate representation of the mesoscale environment but their magnitudes were often reduced by 30 to 50%.

Large-scale, near-Earth, magnetic fields from external sources and the corresponding induced internal field

Data from MAGSAT analyzed as a function of the Dst index to determine the first degree/order spherical harmonic description of the near-Earth external field and its corresponding induced field. The analysis was done separately for data from dawn and dusk. The MAGSAT data was compared with POGO data. A local time variation of the external field persists even during very quiet magnetic conditions; both a diurnal and 8-hour period are present. A crude estimate of Sq current in the 45 deg geomagnetic latitude range is obtained for 1966 to 1970. The current strength, located in the ionosphere and induced in the Earth, is typical of earlier determinations from surface data, although its maximum is displaced in local time from previous results.

Comparison of satellite-inferred (SAGE II) aerosol optical depths with corresponding airborne sunphotometer optical depths

Solar radiation measurements were made with an airborne multiwavelength autotracking sunphotometer detector off the northeastern coast of Brazil on April 6, 1985. These measurements are used to validate solar radiation measurements from the Stratospheric Aerosol and Gas Experiment (SAGE II). The SAGE II data below 17.5 km are dominated by attenuation due to thunderstorm-generated cirrus clouds. When integrated above 17.5 km, however, the aerosol extinction profiles from SAGE II yield aerosol optical depths that are consistent with the corresponding sunphotometer values above 10.1 km.

The correspondence between small-scale coronal structures and the evolving solar magnetic field

Solar coronal bright points, first identified in soft X-rays as X-ray Bright Points (XBPs), are compact, short lived and associated with small bipolar magnetic flux. Contradictory studies have suggested that XBPs are either a primary signature of the emerging flux spectrum of the quiet Sun, or that they are representative of the disappearance of pre-existing flux. Results are presented using coordinated data obtained during recent X-ray sounding rocket flights on 15 August and 11 December 1987 to determine the correspondence of XBPs with time-series, ground based observations of evolving bipolar magnetic structures, He-I dark points, and the network. The results are consistent with the view that coronal bright points are more likely to be associated with the annihilation of pre-existing flux than with emerging flux.
