Draft Genome Sequences from a Novel Clade of Bacillus cereus Sensu Lato Strains, Isolated from the International Space Station

The draft genome sequences of six Bacillus strains, isolated from the International Space Station and belonging to the Bacillus anthracis-B. cereus-B. thuringiensis group, are presented here. These strains were isolated from the Japanese Experiment Module (one strain), U.S. Harmony Node 2 (three strains), and Russian Segment Zvezda Module (two strains).

Draft Genome Sequences of Biosafety Level 2 Opportunistic Pathogens Isolated From the Environmental Surfaces of the International Space Station

The draft genome sequences of 20 biosafety level 2 (BSL-2) opportunistic pathogens isolated from the environmental surfaces of the International Space Station (ISS) were presented. These genomic sequences will help in understanding the influence of microgravity on the pathogenicity and virulence of these strains when compared with Earth strains.

Trimetric Scale for Drafting Machines

Device allows three basic projections to be drawn from a single scale zero setting. Ellipse proportions are included for convenience. Axonometric projections can also be determined.

Creative revision - From rough draft to published paper

The process of revising a technical or scientific paper can be performed more efficiently by the people involved (author, co-author, supervisor, editor) when the revision is controlled by breaking it into a series of steps. The revision process recommended here is based on the levels-of-edit concept that resulted from a study of the technical editorial function at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory of the California Institute of Technology. Types of revision discussed are Substantive, Policy, Language, Mechanical Style, Format, Integrity, and Copy Clarification.

Scientific experiments in the flight of the 1977 biological satellite (draft plan)

The physiological, biological, radiobiological and radiophysical experiments planned for the 1977 biological satellite are described. The biological experiments will involve rats, higher and lower plants, insects and other biological specimens carried on the biosatellite. The responses of these organisms to weightlessness, artificial gravity, cosmic radiation particles and general flight factors will be studied. The radiophysical experiments will investigate certain properties of cosmic radiation as well as the possibility of creating electrostatic and dielectric radiation shields under actual space-flight conditions.

Scientific experiments on the flight of the 1979 biological satellite, draft plan

The various physiological, biological, radiobiological, and radiation physics experiments to be conducted onboard the 1979 biological satellite are described. These experiments deal with the effects of space flight on living organisms, measurement of radiation, and possible methods of shielding spacecraft against such radiation.

Technical draft study report for TOPEX satellite options study, volume 1

The use of two spacecraft for adaptation to the TOPEX mission, namely the P80-1 and the GPS phase 2 are considered. The mission involved three mission options, each option varying in payload definition, payload weight, orbital altitude and payload power requirements. The P80-1 spacecraft is an Air Force Space Test Program satellite which carries a number of payloads to an orbital altitude of 400 n.mi. at a minimum inclination of 72.5 deg, and which has an orbital life capability of three years. The GPS phase 2 spacecraft is the operational satellite for the Global Positioning NAVSTAR navigation constellation provided for all service (and commercial) use.

Computer image processing of up-draft flow motion and severe storm formation observed from satellite

Special rapid-scan satellite visible and infrared observations have been used to study the life cycle of the clouds from the initiation of updraft flow motion in the atmosphere, the condensation of humid air, the formation of clouds, the development of towering cumulus, the penetration of the tropopause, the collapsing of an overshooting turret, and the dissipation of cloud. The infrared image provides an indication of the equivalent blackbody temperature of the observed cloud tops. By referencing the temperature, height and humidity profiles from rawinsonde observations as the background meteorological data for the instability of the air mass to the satellite infrared data sets at different time periods, the development of convective clouds can be studied in detail.

Advanced software development workstation. Engineering scripting language graphical editor: DRAFT design document

The Engineering Scripting Language (ESL) is a language designed to allow nonprogramming users to write Higher Order Language (HOL) programs by drawing directed graphs to represent the program and having the system generate the corresponding program in HOL. The ESL system supports user generation of HOL programs through the manipulation of directed graphs. The components of this graphs (nodes, ports, and connectors) are objects each of which has its own properties and property values. The purpose of the ESL graphical editor is to allow the user to create or edit graph objects which represent programs.
