Assembling Phenothiazine into a Porous Coordination Cage to Improve Its Photocatalytic Efficiency for Organic Transformations

Abstract Photo‐catalysis by small‐molecules is often limited by catalyst degradation and low electron‐transfer efficiency. Herein we report a stable N‐phenyl‐phenothiazine (PTH)‐derived porous coordination cage (PCC) as a highly efficient photocatalyst. By the incorporation of the photocatalytic PTH moiety into a PCC, aggregation‐induced quenching (AIQ) was shown to be reduced. An improvement in catalyst stability was discovered, ascribed to the synergistic effects of the PTH moieties. The catalyst, operating through a photolytic single‐electron transfer, was utilized for photo‐catalyzed dehalogenation and borylation. Evaluation of the catalytic mechanism in the borylation reaction showed that the improved performance results from the more efficient formation of the electron donor‐acceptor (EDA) complex with the cage. This discovery provides a potential strategy to improve the photophysical properties and stabilities of small‐molecule organic photocatalysts via supramolecular chemistry.

Self-Assembly of Helical Nanofibrous Chiral Covalent Organic Frameworks

Despite significant progress on the design and synthesis of covalent organic frameworks (COFs), precise control over microstructures of such materials remains challenging. Herein, two chiral COFs with well-defined one-handed double-helical nanofibrous morphologies were constructed via an unprecedented template-free method, capitalizing on the diastereoselective formation of aminal linkages. Detailed time-dependent experiments reveal the spontaneous transformation of initial rod-like aggregates into the double-helical microstructures. Impoirtantly, we have further demonstrated that the helical chirality and circular dichroism signal can be facilely inversed by simply adjusting the amount of acetic acid during synthesis. Moreover, by transferring chirality to achiral fluorescent molecular adsorbents, the helical COF nanostructures can effectively induce circularly polarized luminescence with the highest luminescent asymmetric factor (g lum ) up to ≈0.01.

Structural Manipulation of a Zirconocene-Based Porous Coordination Cage Using External and Host–Guest Stimuli

Porous coordination cages (PCCs) constructed from a zirconocene-based cluster have drawn great attention for their high stability and structural tunability. These features have enabled these cages to be utilized for a wide array of applications. Here this work demonstrates the structural flexibility and stimulus-responsive features of two interconvertible zirconocene-based PCCs. The subjects, PCC-20c (capsular) and PCC-20t (tetrahedral), are constructed from the same cluster and ligand but exhibit different shapes and properties. In the synthetic study of the cages, it is found that higher temperatures of synthesis yield PCC-20c in several different crystalline phases while lower temperatures of synthesis yield pure phase PCC-20t. Thermodynamic studies on the interconversion of the two cages show that the conversion from PCC-20t into PCC-20c is an entropically driven process and can be largely affected by the solvent environment. Additionally, the process of PCC-20t/c conversion can be mediated by the counter anions and light irradiation as evidenced by the change in equilibrium constants under these influences. The current studies are conducted to decipher how the PCC-20t/c phase can be controllably synthesized, interconverted, and their properties can be modified under the use of external stimuli: heat, light, and guest molecules.

Measurement of e + e − → ωπ+π− cross section at $\sqrt{s}$ = 2.000 to 3.080 GeV

A partial wave analysis on the process e⁺e⁻ → ωπ⁺π⁻ is performed using 647 pb -1 of data sample collected by using the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring at center-of-mass (c.m.) energies from 2.000 GeV to 3.080 GeV. The Born cross section of the e⁺e⁻ → ωπ⁺π⁻ process is measured, with precision improved by a factor of 3 compared to that of previous studies. A structure near 2.25 GeV is observed in the energy-dependent cross sections of e⁺e⁻ → ωπ⁺π⁻ and ωπ 0 π 0 with a statistical significance of 7.6σ, and its determined mass and width are 2232 ± 19 ± 27 MeV/c 2 and 93 ± 53 ± 20 MeV, respectively, where the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. By analyzing the cross sections of subprocesses e⁺e⁻ → ωf 0 (500), ωf 0 (980), ωf 0 (1370), ωf 2 (1270), and b1(1235)π, a structure, with mass M = 2200 ± 11 ± 17 MeV/c 2 and width Γ = 74 ± 20 ± 24 MeV, is observed with a combined statistical significance of 7.9σ. The measured resonance parameters will help to reveal the nature of vector states around 2.25 GeV.

Study of e+e- → γΦJ/ψ from $\sqrt{s}$ = 4.600 to 4.951 GeV

Using data samples with an integrated luminosity of 6.4 fb -1 collected by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring, the process of e+e- → γΦJ/ψ is studied. The processes of e + e - → Φχc1,c2, χc1,c2 → γJ/ψ are observed with a significance of more than 10σ. The √s-dependent cross section of e + e - → Φχc1,c2 is measured between 4.600 and 4.951 GeV, and evidence of a resonance structure is found for the first time in the Φχc2 process. We also search for the processes of e + e - → γX(4140), γX(4274) and γX(4500) via the γΦJ/ψ final state, but no obvious structures are found. The upper limits on the production cross section times the branching fraction for these processes at the 90% confidence level are reported.

Search for the semi-muonic charmonium decay J/ψ → D−μ+νμ + c.c.

Abstract Using (10087 ± 44) × 10 6 J/ψevents collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCIIe + e − storage ring at the center-of-mass energy of$$ \sqrt{s} $$ s = 3.097 GeV, we present a search for the rare semi-muonic charmonium decayJ/ψ→D − μ + ν μ + c.c.. Since no significant signal is observed, we set an upper limit of the branching fraction to be$$ \mathcal{B} $$ B (J/ψ→D − μ + ν μ + c.c.) < 5.6 × 10 −7 at 90% confidence level. This is the first search for the weak decay of charmonium with a muon in the final state.

Abstract Based one + e − collision data collected at center-of-mass energies from 2.000 to 3.080 GeV by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, a partial wave analysis is performed for the processe + e − →$$ {K}_S^0{K}_L^0 $$ K S 0 K L 0 π 0 . The results allow the Born cross sections of the processe + e − →$$ {K}_S^0{K}_L^0 $$ K S 0 K L 0 π 0 , as well as its subprocessese + e − →K ∗ (892) 0 $$ \overline{K} $$ K ¯ 0 and$$ {K}_2^{\ast } $$ K 2 ∗ (1430) 0 $$ \overline{K} $$ K ¯ 0 to be measured. The Born cross sections fore + e − →$$ {K}_S^0{K}_L^0 $$ K S 0 K L 0 π 0 are consistent with previous measurements by BaBar, but with substantially improved precision. The Born cross section lineshape of the processe + e − K ∗ (892) 0 $$ \overline{K} $$ K ¯ 0 is consistent with a vector meson state around 2.2 GeV with a significance of 3.2σ. Study of η(1405)/η(1475) in $J/\psi \to \gamma {K}_S^0{K}_S^0{\pi}^0$ decay

Using a sample of (10 . 09 ± 0 . 04) × 10 9 J/ψ decays collected with the BESIII detector, partial wave analyses of the decay $ J/\psi \to \gamma {K}_S^0{K}_S^0{\pi}^0$ are performed within the ${K}_S^0{K}_S^0{\pi}^0$ invariant mass region below 1.6 GeV/ c 2 . The covariant tensor amplitude method is used in both mass independent and mass dependent approaches. Both analysis approaches exhibit dominant pseudoscalar and axial vector components, and show good consistency for the other individual components. Furthermore, the mass dependent analysis reveals that the ${K}_S^0{K}_S^0{\pi}^0$ invariant mass spectrum for the pseudoscalar component can be well described with two isoscalar resonant states using relativistic Breit-Wigner model, i.e., the η (1405) with a mass of $1391.7\pm {0.7}_{-0.3}^{+11.3}$ MeV/ c 2 and a width of $60.8\pm {1.2}_{-12.0}^{+5.5}$ MeV, and the η (1475) with a mass of $1507.6\pm {1.6}_{-32.2}^{+15.5}$ MeV/ c 2 and a width of $115.8\pm {2.4}_{-10.9}^{+14.8}$ MeV. The first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. Alternate models for the pseudoscalar component are also tested, but the description of the ${K}_S^0{K}_S^0{\pi}^0$ invariant mass spectrum deteriorates significantly.

Amplitude analysis and branching-fraction measurement of $\mathrm{D}^+_s$ → $π^+π^oη'$

Using data collected with the BESIII detector in $e^+e^-$ collisions at center-of-mass energies between 4.178 and 4.226 GeV and corresponding to 6.32 fb -1 of integrated luminosity, we report the amplitude analysis and branching-fraction measurement of the $\mathrm{D}^+_s$ → $π^+π^oη'$ decay. We find that the dominant intermediate process is $\mathrm{D}^+_s$ →$ρ^+η'$ and the significances of other resonant and nonresonant processes are all less than 3σ. The upper limits on the branching fractions of S-wave and P-wave nonresonant components are set to 0.10% and 0.74% at the 90% confidence level, respectively. In addition, the branching fraction of the $\mathrm{D}^+_s$ → $π^+π^oη'$ decay is measured to be (6.15 ± 0.25(stat.) ± 0.18(syst.))%, which receives significant contribution only from $\mathrm{D}^+_s$ →$ρ^+η'$ according to the amplitude analysis.

Measurement of the D → K - π + π + π- and D → K - π + π 0 coherence factors and average strong-phase differences in quantum-correlated $ D\overline{D} $ decays

The decays D → K - π + π + π - and D → K - π + π 0 are studied in a sample of quantum-correlated \( D\overline{D} \) pairs produced through the process e + e - → ψ (3770) → \( D\overline{D} \) , exploiting a data set collected by the BESIII experiment that corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb - 1 . Here D indicates a quantum superposition of a D 0 and a \( {\overline{D}}^0 \) meson. By reconstructing one neutral charm meson in a signal decay, and the other in the same or a different final state, observables are measured that contain information on the coherence factors and average strong-phase differences of each of the signal modes. These parameters are critical inputs in the measurement of the angle γ of the Unitarity Triangle in B - → DK - decays at the LHCb and Belle II experiments. The coherence factors are determined to be R K 3 π = \( {0.52}_{-0.10}^{+0.12} \) and \( {R}_{K{\pi \pi}^0} \) = 0 . 78 ± 0 . 04, with values for the average strong-phase differences that are \( {\delta}_D^{K3\pi }=\left({167}_{-19}^{+31}\right){}^{\circ} \) and \( {\delta}_D^{K{\pi \pi}^0}=\left({196}_{-15}^{+14}\right){}^{\circ} \) , where the uncertainties include both statistical and systematic contributions. The analysis is re-performed in four bins of the phase-space of the D → K - π + π + π - to yield results that will allow for a more sensitive measurement of γ with this mode, to which the BESIII inputs will contribute an uncertainty of around 6°.

The data samples were collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.189 and 4.437 GeV, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 11 fb -1 . No significant signal is observed. Upper limits on the branching ratio $\mathcal{B}$($h_c$ →$π^oJ/ψ$)/$\mathcal{B}$($h_c$ →$γη_c$ →$γK^+K_-π^o$) and on the branching fraction $\mathcal{B}$($h_c$ →$π^oJ/ψ$) are determined to be 7.5 x 10 -2 and 4.7 x 10 -4 at 90% confidence level, respectively. The latter is derived from the former using the measured branching fraction of the normalization channel. This is the first determination of the upper limit of the decay $h_c$ → $π^0J/ψ$
