This is the AmeriFlux Management Project (AMP) created FLUXNET-1F version of the carbon flux data for the site CA-PB2 Polar Bear 2 - Fen. This is the FLUXNET version of the carbon flux data for the site CA-PB2 Polar Bear 2 - Fen produced by applying the standard ONEFlux (1F) software. Site Description - Ontario Ministry of Environment and Climate Change's Environmental Monitoring and Reporting Branch has established five carbon flux monitoring towers in Ontario’s Far North as part of its Climate Change Modelling and Monitoring program. These long term monitoring stations measure carbon exchange and a suite of soil and meteorological parameters over peatland ecosystems to better understand carbon cycling in Ontario’s Far North. Information produced by these monitoring stations will assist the province in land use planning and the development of climate change adaptation strategies.

Depth-resolved soil data from DOE-LM Riverton Wyoming site, April-September 2017

Averaged (from 3 to 5 replicates) and QA/QC:d data for soil cores taken roughly every month in the period April 5 to September 13 in 2017 at a location close to DOE Legacy Management well 855 at the Riverton, Wyoming floodplain site. The groundwater at this site exhibits persistent U, Mo, and sulfate plumes and is one of the field sites in focus for the SLAC Groundwater Quality SFA program. Cores were separated into 5-20 cm segments based on soil horizonation and each segment was subsampled for microbial analyses (data available at the NCBI Single Read Archive (SRA) Database, https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sra/, BioProject ID# PRJNA626616) in addition to the soil analyses included in this dataset. The soil analyses dataset includes aerobic and anaerobic respiration rate estimates (MicroResp method), water content estimates (on collected samples, not in situ), total C, N, S, Ca, K, Mg, Na, Fe, As, Mo, U, and organic-C concentrations, water extractable concentrations of the same elements, and HCl-extractable Fe(II) concentrations. There are four files included in this data package: metadataFile.csv, avgDataFile.csv, methodFile.csv, and RVT2017soilData.xlsx. The excel file contains the same information as the individual csv-files (in separate tabs).

AmeriFlux FLUXNET-1F MX-Tes Tesopaco, secondary tropical dry forest

This is the AmeriFlux Management Project (AMP) created FLUXNET-1F version of the carbon flux data for the site MX-Tes Tesopaco, secondary tropical dry forest. This is the FLUXNET version of the carbon flux data for the site MX-Tes Tesopaco, secondary tropical dry forest produced by applying the standard ONEFlux (1F) software. Site Description - This tower was located in the "Ejido la Estrella" where the eddy covariance tower is located 7.5 km east of the town Rosario de Tesopaco, in southeastern Sonora, Mexico. The tower was positioned in the center of a homogeneous flat terrain at the foothills of the Madre Occidental. This ecosystem lies in a highly seasonal region under the influence of the North American Monsoon that brings about 70% of the rains from July to September. The site is dominated by leguminous trees. Some of the dominant species are Lysiloma divaricatum, Ipomoea arborescens, Acacia cochliacantha, Haematoxylum brasiletto, and Celtis reticulata. The mean basal area at the study site is 14.83 ± 3.3m2 ha-1, and the aboveground biomass is estimated to be 43.20±9.5Mgha-1. These values and the high counts of Acacia cochliacantha indicate that the area is a secondary forest with significant management activities in the past.

This is the FLUXNET version of the carbon flux data for the site US-CF1 CAF-LTAR Cook East produced by applying the standard ONEFlux (1F) software. Site Description - CF1 has operated since May 2017 at the R.J. Cook Agronomy Farm outside of Pullman, Washington, and monitors the no-till side of a paired-catchment study that is part of the Longterm Agroecosystem Research (LTAR) site common experiment. CF1 is located in “Cook East,” a field that has been in no-till management since 1998, and represents the Alternative treatment of the LTAR common experiment. It is paired with the CF2 tower location in “Cook West,” which has been in conventional tillage since prior to 1998 and represents the Prevalent treatments of the common experiment. Cook Agronomy Farm is in the high precipitation agroecological zone of the Columbia Plateau’s dryland cropping region. Crop rotations are wheat-based and include winter wheat, spring wheat, chickpea, spring canola, and winter peas. Wheat is the principal cash crop, with other crops grown in rotation for diversity, nutrient, and pest management. Soils are predominantly silt loam texture Mollisols in the Palouse, Thatuna, Naff soil series. The CF1 tower replaced US-RC1, which operated 2012-2016 in a neighboring field that was also in no-till management since 1998. CF1 and RC1 have distinct footprints, aspects, and soil series compositions.

The dominant tree species, Pinus edulis and Juniperus monosperma make up >95% of the area’s tree cover. Total tree is cover is ~60%. The dominant herbaceous plant at the site is the C4 perennial grass Bouteloua gracilis. In July 2013, we observed pinon mortality at the site, which continued through 2015. We have used a variety of techniques to document the rate of mortality. The mortality was triggered by a combination of drought (2011-2013) and Pinon ips bark beetle outbreak. Juniper was not affected.

The site has been developed in several phases: Phase 1 (1992 - 1994) - Construction of two 2.5-acre deepwater marshes and a river water delivery system began, with pumps installed on the floodplain to bring water from the Olentangy River. In May 1994, one wetland was planted with marsh vegetation, while the other remained as an unplanted control; Phase 2 (1994 - 1999) - Development of a research and teaching infrastructure took place with the construction of boardwalks, a pavilion, and a compound. The creation of the 7-acre naturally flooded oxbow was also included; Phase 3 (2000 - 2003) - As a research building was created, three additional wetlands were created in the vicinity of the building, including a stormwater wetland that receives runoff from the roof of the building; Phase 4 - The current phase involves research access to the Olentangy River.
