Flexible arms provide constant force for pressure switch calibration

In-place calibration of a pressure switch is provided by a system of radially oriented flexing arms which, when rotated at a known velocity, convert the centrifugal force of the arms to a linear force along the shaft. The linear force, when applied to a pressure switch diaphragm, can then be calculated.

Solid state circuit switches ac load

Differential amplifier circuit switches ac signals with peak amplitudes greater than 5 volts. This solid state circuit biases a switching transistor on and off by a 0.1 to 5.0 dc control voltage.

Design concept for pressure switch calibrator

Calibrator and switch design enables pressure switches to operate under 150 g shock loads. The design employs a saturated liquid-to-vapor phase transition at constant pressure to produce a known force independent of displacement over a usable range.

Automatic channel switching device

Automatic channel switching device operates with all three triple modular redundant channels when there are no errors. When a failure occurs, channel and module switching isolate the failure to a specific channel. Since only one must operate correctly, reliability is increased.

Rugged switch responds to minute pressure differentials

Pressure responsive switching device exhibits high sensitivity but is extremely rugged and resistant to large amplitude shock and velocity loading. This snap-action, single pole-double throw switch operates over a wide temperature range.

Bilateral, Zero-Impedance Static Semiconductor Switch

Static semiconductor switching circuit eliminates the undesirable features of electromechanical relays and conventional semiconductor switching circuits. There is a net zero voltage drop at the terminals and thus a zero impedance for bilateral currents there.

High conductance vapor thermal switch

High conductance vapor thermal switch was produced to maintain heat dissipating component temperatures within acceptable limits. The switch is a self-actuating, automatic device that regulates the rate of heat flow to control.

Simple switch actuated by force applied over wide solid angle

Electric switch can be actuated /closed/ by a force applied from any direction within a hemispheric envelope. The switch is comprised of a flexible, electrically conductive reed holding a conductive contact disc, mounted concentrically within a conductive tube.

Calibratable solid-state pressure switch

Pressure switch, incorporating a semiconductor light-detector coupled to an electrically controlled actuating unit, provides accurate and reliable switching over a broad range of pressures and environments.

RF-controlled implantable solid state switch

Miniature, totally implantable, solid state RF-controlled switching circuit for biotelemetry systems consumes zero power in off condition and turns on or off by pulse of RF energy. Switch, the size of small coin, is reducible by integrated circuit techniques.

A hybrid electromechanical solid state switch for ac power control

Bidirectional thyristor coupled to a series of actuator driven electromechanical contacts generates hybrid electromechanical solid state switch for ac power control. Device is useful in power control applications where zero crossover switching is required.

Electronic switching circuit uses complementary non-linear components

Inherent switching properties of saturable inductors and storage diodes are combined to perform large variety of electronic functions, such as pulse shaping, gating, and multiplexing. Passive elements replace active switching devices in generation of complex waveforms.

A solid state crossbar switch for automatic analog computer patching

An all-electronic crossbar switch consisting of FET series-shunt switches inside the feedback loops of operational amplifiers was designed and constructed. Time-shared solution of five different differential equations was obtained by using four integrators on ASTRAC 2, with a new solution being generated 250 times per second.

Simple technique for sequential Q-switching of molecular lasers.

A simple technique for sequentially Q-switching molecular lasers is discussed in which an optical scanner is used as an optical folding element in a laser cavity consisting of a stationary diffraction grating and partially reflecting mirror. Sequential Q-switching of a conventional CO2 laser is demonstrated in which over sixty-two transitions between 9.2 and 10.8 microns are observed. Rapid repetition rates (200 Hz) and narrow laser pulses (less than 5 microsec) allow conventional signal processing techniques to be used with this multiwavelength laser source which is a versatile tool for laser propagation studies, absorption spectroscopy, and gain measurements. Results of a preliminary experiment demonstrating the utility of measuring selective absorption of CO2 laser wavelengths by C2H4 are shown.

Optimum switching boundaries for space vehicle control.

Description of a new scheme using parabolic switching boundaries as opposed to the current method of linear switching to improve the fuel consumption of manned orbital space vehicles. Fuel consumption during error recovery and limit cycle phases are both considered.
