A method for crystallographic mapping of an alpha-beta titanium alloy with nanometre resolution using scanning precession electron diffraction and open-source software libraries
An approach for the crystallographic mapping of two-phase alloys on the nanoscale using a combination of scanned precession electron diffraction and open-source python libraries is introduced in this paper. This method is demonstrated using the example of a two-phase α/β titanium alloy. The data were recorded using a direct electron detector to collect the patterns, and recently developed algorithms to perform automated indexing and analyse the crystallography from the results. Very high-quality mapping is achieved at a 3 nm step size. The results show the expected Burgers orientation relationships between the α laths and β matrix, as well as the expected misorientations between α laths. A minor issue was found that one area was affected by 180° ambiguities in indexing occur due to this area being aligned too close to a zone axis of the α with twofold projection symmetry (not present in 3D) in the zero-order Laue Zone, and this should be avoided in data acquisition in the future. Nevertheless, this study demonstrates a good workflow for the analysis of nanocrystalline two- or multi-phase materials, which will be of widespread use in analysing two-phase titanium and other systems and how they evolve as a function of thermomechanical treatments.

LBNL BPM Firmware (CAL-BPM) v1.0: software
CAL-BPM is the firmware code base of the Advanced Light Source (ALS) Beam Position Monitor (BPM) Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) based electronics.
HSNMon: High-Speed Monitoring Software for Omni-Path
HSNMon is a robust high speed network monitoring daemon that provides insight into network availability, hardware failure, and network performance for switches and network cards. HSNMon collects counters, forwarding tables, and error information at high resolution using publicly available Omni-Path Management APIs. The collected data can be forwarded into multiple logging infrastructures including syslog and message queuing systems. HSNMon is only the infrastructure for collecting the network data. It does not include any collected data or proprietary LANL information
Trace Crawler SOFTWARE
The trace crawler is a tool for selective web crawling to archive web resources with well-defined boundaries. The specific web navigation steps (or trace) are formulated for the families of webpages, where layout or HTML structure can be similar but the content is different, for example, GitHub, Slideshare, blogs, etc. The trace is recorded in a json file format.
C3PU:Real-Time Predictive Charge Control Software for Battery Management Systems (Code for Charge Control and Predictive Unit) [SWR-21-48]
C3PU sets up a model predictive control formulation for the optimal charging control of battery packs and can be deployed for real-time operation on an embedded microprocessor. C3PU uses electrochemical and thermal models of battery packs to predict the charging trajectories of the battery pack over a time horizon under different operating conditions. It then selects the optimal charging trajectory such that a pre-defined objective is minimized, which in the present state of the code is to minimize the charging duration of the battery pack. The optimal charging trajectory is obtained by solving an underlying mathematical problem. However, C3PU is flexible to incorporate other charging objectives. The underlying battery models can be swapped as well, as long as they follow certain mathematical properties. Mathematically, optimal control problems (in this case, optimally controlling the charging current of the battery pack) are computationally expensive. C3PU implements advanced numerical techniques, namely pseudo-spectral optimization, to reduce the computational burden of the underlying problem to solve. This allows for the problem to be solved in real-time in an embedded system. Once the optimal charging trajectory is computed over a time horizon, C3PU can package such data and send it out via appropriate communication protocols.
Data Science Infrastructure SOFTWARE
LANL science workflows generate complex data sets and ensembles of data requiring significant compute and storage resources. The Data Science Infrastructure (DSI) project focuses on data-driven approaches to make data more readily available to LANL projects. DSI workflows leverage metadata stored in data-agnostic databases, supported by an abstraction layer API to simplify searching and accessing data across simulation runs, experimental runs, filesystems and environments. The abstraction layer API allows the user to query a range of data types: raw output, processed data, configuration data, machine learning models, performance data, etc. In addition to the abstraction backend API, the DSI project is developing client-driven query APIs and UIs to support specific user workflows.
Software For Detecting, Analyzing, And Mitigating Anomalous Network Packets Through A Multi Dimensional Latent Space Representation
The code ingests network packet payloads, classifies the payload as anomalous or normal, and plots the payload in a 3-D latent space representation. It also enables user interaction with the representation to allow for the user to click on the packet payload in the latent space and determine host id, network topology, and access the raw packet data.
