The 2021 NASA Small Spacecraft Technology program video is an overview of the history and future plans of the program. It shares the impacts the program has made to date, as well as technologies, missions, and an initiative that will promote significant NASA contributions toward the advancement of the small spacecraft platform capability.

Classification is an assignment of an image to a certain category. Localization is identified by the box surrounding the object in the image. Object detection detects instances of semantic objects of a certain class. Semantic segmentation categorizes all the pixels of an image into classes of objects. Instance segmentation identifies each instance of each object in the image. Panoptic (i.e., showing or seeing everything at once) segmentation is a combination of semantic and instance segmentation and classifies all the pixels in the image.

NASA operates a high-speed camera (a MIRO M310 manufactured by Vision Research) on the fourth floor of the Operations and Checkout Building pointed at the communications tower that is in the Industrial Area of Kennedy Space Center. Figure 1 shows the location of the camera and tower. Figure 2 shows the camera view during daylight. On 7 August 2023 between 11 pm and 12 am eastern standard time, three lightning flashes to the tower were recorded.
