Method for nano powder loading into micro-capillary mold

A method loading powder into a mold can include immersing the mold comprising one or more microchannels into a suspension comprising the powder and a surfactant suspended in a dispersant, wherein the powder comprises particles having an average particle size of less than 100 μm, wherein the mold is substantially entirely covered by the suspension; heating the suspension having the mold immersed therein under a temperature condition suitable to lower the stability of the particles of the powder in the suspension such that the particles settle out of solution and into the one or more microchannels; and applying an ultrasonic wave to the heated suspension to further settle the particles of the powder into the one or more microchannels thereby filling the one or more microchannels of the mold with the powder.

Rational nano-coulomb ionization

An ion pulse generator includes a triboelectric generator, an ion emitter and a conductive surface. The triboelectric generator includes a first electrode, a spaced apart second electrode and a first triboelectric layer. The triboelectric generator generates a predetermined amount of charge as a result of relative movement of the first triboelectric layer. The ion emitter is electrically coupled to the first electrode. The conductive surface is electrically coupled to the second electrode and is spaced apart from the ion emitter at a predetermined distance. Generation of the predetermined amount of charge causes formation of ions between the ion emitter and the conductive surface.

Functionalized porous organic polymers as uranium nano-traps for efficient uranium extraction

Compositions are provided for efficient uranium extraction, for example from wastewater, seawater, or other water sources. The compositions can include a functionalized porous organic polymer functionalized with one or more uranium binding moieties, e.g. having a plurality of amidoxime or amidrazone groups covalently attached thereto. The compositions can include covalent organic frameworks, porous aromatic frameworks, and various porous organic polymers, especially those having a hierarchical pore size distribution over a range of pore sizes. The compositions can have functional groups such as amidoxime or an amidrazone covalently attached thereto. The hierarchical pore size distribution can be determined based upon at least 60% of the pore sizes in the range of pore sizes having a pore volume of at least 0.01 cm 3 g −1 in the pore size distribution at 77 K. Methods of making the compositions and methods of using the compositions are also provided.

Systems and methods for manufacturing nano-scale materials

Methods and systems for high-speed production of nanoparticles with very high product yields are described. Systems utilize concentric micro-scale capillaries arranged to define nanoparticle formation regions that lie along predetermined length(s) of the capillaries. Flow through the formation regions can be laminar during a formation protocol. The system can include on-line analytical tools for real time characterization of products or intermediates. Systems include an additive manufacturing-type deposition at the terminus of the formation section. The deposition area includes a print head and a print bed and provides for random or patterned deposition of nanoparticles. The print head and/or the print bed can be capable of motion in one or more degrees of freedom relative to one another.
