ASTP video tape recorder ground support equipment (audio/CTE splitter/interleaver). Operations manual

A descriptive handbook for the audio/CTE splitter/interleaver (RCA part No. 8673734-502) was presented. This unit is designed to perform two major functions: extract audio and time data from an interleaved video/audio signal (splitter section), and provide a test interleaved video/audio/CTE signal for the system (interleaver section). It is a rack mounting unit 7 inches high, 19 inches wide, 20 inches deep, mounted on slides for retracting from the rack, and weighs approximately 40 pounds. The following information is provided: installation, operation, principles of operation, maintenance, schematics and parts lists.

A first interpretation of East African swiddening via computer-assisted analysis of 3 Landsat tapes

A preliminary application of the machine processing of Landsat data for the identification of swidden farming in East Africa is discussed. Three sets of Landsat data were analyzed: the 1972 mid-dry season, the 1973 late dry season, and the 1975 early wet season. The analysis procedure consisted of: (1) a preprocessing step to de-skew, rotate, and rescale the data, (2) a geometric correction process, (3) photographic enlargement, and (4) a procedure to obtain spectral response values for training the classification algorithm.

SETI - High sensitivity searches at NASA with high speed tape recorders

The paper reports the two observing programs conducted to compare two techniques which have been proposed as methods for performing the requisite Fourier transformations in very large multichannel spectrum analysers (MCSA): the direct digital FFT and optical transform processor. The details of the observations at NRAO utilizing a direct digital FFT are given. A description of the NAIC, Arecibo observations utilizing an optical processor at the Environmental Research Institute of Michigan (ERIM) and a microdensitometer at Electromagnetics System Laboratories (ESL) is presented. For both observing programs, statistical analysis of the power spectra produced by the nonreal-time MCSAs (or post-processing) was accomplished.

NASA Global Atmospheric Sampling Program (GASP) data report for tapes VL0011 and VL0013

In-situ measurements of atmospheric ozone, carbon monoxide, clouds, and related meteorological and flight information obtained during 1122 flights of aircraft VH-EBE and N655PA from January 10 through October 2, 1977 are reported. In addition, tropopause pressures obtained from time and space interpolation of achieved data for the dates of the flights are included.
