A search for the resonant production of a heavy scalar X decaying into a lighter scalar S and a Higgs boson, through the process X → S (→ $b\bar{b}$) H (→ γγ) , where the two photons are consistent with the Higgs boson decay, is performed. The search is conducted using integrated luminosities of 140 and 59 fb −1 of proton–proton collision data at centre-of-mass energies of 13 and 13.6 TeV, respectively, recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The search is performed over the mass ranges of 170 ≤ m X ≤ 1000 GeV and 15 ≤ m S ≤ 500 GeV. No significant excess over the Standard Model background predictions is observed and limits at 95% confidence level are set on the product of cross section and branching fraction for the process X → S (→ $b\bar{b}$) H (→ γγ) at 13 TeV, ranging from 9 fb to 0.06 fb.
We present the first complete next-to-next-to-next-to-leading-order calculation of the matching coefficients that link unpolarized flavor nonsinglet parton distribution functions with lattice QCD computable correlation functions. By using this high-order result, we notice a reduction in theoretical uncertainties compared to relying solely on previously known lower-order matching coefficients. Furthermore, based on this result we have extracted the three-loop unpolarized flavor nonsinglet splitting function, which is in agreement with the state-of-the-art result. Because of the simplicity of our method, it has the potential to advance the calculation of splitting functions to the desired four-loop order.
The Fermilab E906/SeaQuest collaboration performed measurements of the Drell-Yan process using 120 GeV proton beams bombarding liquid hydrogen and liquid deuterium targets. A combined analysis of all collected data was performed to obtain the final results for the 𝜎 𝑝𝑑 /2𝜎 𝑝𝑝 Drell-Yan cross section ratio covering the kinematic region of 0.13 < 𝑥 <0.45. The 𝑥 dependencies of $\bar{d}$(𝑥)/$\bar{𝑢}$(𝑥) and $\bar{d}$(𝑥) $-$ $\bar{𝑢}$(𝑥) are extracted from these cross section ratios. It is found that $\bar{d}$(𝑥) is greater than $\bar{𝑢}$(𝑥) over the entire measured 𝑥 range, with improved statistical accuracy compared to previous measurements. The new results on $\bar{d}$(𝑥)/$\bar{𝑢}$(𝑥) and $\bar{d}$(𝑥) $-$ $\bar{𝑢}$(𝑥) are compared to various parton distribution functions and theoretical calculations.

Recently, the first ever lattice computation of the $γ\textit{W}$-box radiative correction to the rate of the semileptonic pion decay allowed for a reduction of the theory uncertainty of that rate by a factor of ~3. A recent dispersion evaluation of the $γ\textit{W}$-box correction on the neutron also led to a significant reduction of the theory uncertainty, but shifted the value of $V_{ud}$ extracted from the neutron and superallowed nuclear β decay, resulting in a deficit of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) unitarity in the top row. A direct lattice computation of the $γ\textit{W}$-box correction for the neutron decay would provide an independent cross-check for this result but is very challenging. Before those challenges are overcome, we propose a hybrid analysis, converting the lattice calculation on the pion to that on the neutron by a combination of dispersion theory and phenomenological input. The new prediction for the universal radiative correction to free and bound neutron β-decay reads $Δ^V_R$ = 0.02477(24), in excellent agreement with the dispersion theory result $Δ^V_R$ = 0.02467(22). Combining with other relevant information, the top-row CKM unitarity deficit persists.
