Attenuator, PC-2.92mm, Fixed (Proficiency Test Report; PT ID Number 6679665)

The PSL has reviewed the documentation and data provided by NNSS–Livermore Operations with respect to this proficiency test. This proficiency test was performed to assess NNSS–Livermore Operations’ ability to perform scattering parameter calibrations. The level of documentation was satisfactory. On 12/28/2021, NNSS–Livermore Operations reported the data for the proficiency test conducted on the attenuator. NNSS–Livermore Operations performed this proficiency test using an Anritsu vector network analyzer, an electronic calibration module, and verification kit. The PSL used a Keysight vector network analyzer and mechanical calibration kit. The PSL results included in this proficiency test report were taken on June 23, 2020.

IAEA PT sample results and analysis [Slides]

Data shows that we need to keep the requirement for matching samples and standards as the set of data from matching standards and samples is qualitatively better with fewer questionable or actionable measurements. Both before and after estimated buoyance corrections.

Lib81 ACE neutron sublibrary erratum for 190-198 Pt and 180m Ta

The ACE library based on the neutron-induced ENDF/B-VIII.1 sub-library, Lib81, was released in September 2025. This memorandum documents the release of 80 errata files for the Lib81 library, which fix a problem in the neutron capture γ-ray energy distributions. This Lib81 erratum does not correspond to an ENDF/B library erratum.

Synthesis and Characterization of Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticles Loaded with Pt Catalysts

Coating the catalyst with a nanoporous layer has been demonstrated to be an effective approach to improve catalyst stability. Herein, we systematically investigate two types of core-shell mesoporous silica nanoparticles with a platinum nanocatalyst using a variety of characterization methods. One of the mesoporous particles has a unique amine ring structure in the middle of a shell (Ring-mSiO 2 /Pt-5.0/SiO 2 ), and the other one has no ring structure (mSiO 2 /Pt-5.0/SiO 2 ). Brunauer–Emmett–Teller/Barrett–Joyner–Halenda (BET/BJH) presented a similar surface area for both particles, and the pore size was 2.4 nm. Ultra-Small-Angle X-ray Scattering (USAXS)/ Small-Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS) showed the size of mSiO 2 /Pt-5.0/SiO 2 and Ring-mSiO 2 /Pt-5.0/SiO 2 were 420 nm and 272 nm, respectively. It also showed that the ring structure was 30 nm above the silica core. Using high-resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), it was found that the platinum nanoparticles are loaded evenly on the surface of the silica. In situ SAXS heating experiments and Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) indicated that the mSiO 2 /Pt-5.0/SiO 2 were more stable during the high temperature, while the Ring-mSiO 2 /Pt-5.0/SiO 2 had more change in the particle.
