The modernization of SAMMY continued with the removal of all container array access for the main program. The container array was used due to the computer limitations at the time of the initial writing of SAMMY, but it prevented the use of some modern code testing options. Additionally, the authors continued to make the code more modular by shifting the storage of the energy grid and the covariance information to C++ storage, thus allowing for better unit testing and the elimination of scratch files. For AMPX, the authors continued to implement the new Evaluated Nuclear Data File format to allow AMPX to read new evaluations as they become available.
This study implements the proprietary machine learning-based model (model) developed under the 2022 study titled “Evaluating the Impact of Proprietary Oil & Gas Data on Machine Learning Model Performance Using a Quasi-Experimental Analytical Approach” for forecasting unconventional oil and gas production using well data from the Permian Basin. The model, developed using an exclusive dataset that includes time series production data from an operator in the Permian Basin, is designed to jointly predict daily oil, gas, and water production for horizontal wells as a function of bottomhole pressure drawdown, spatial placement across the study domain, and well-completion attributes. In this study, the model was explicitly applied to explore its utility to evaluate the impact of varying drawdown strategies on the production forecast of a well in the Permian Basin dataset. Managing pressure drawdown has been identified as a way to improve estimated ultimate recovery (EUR) from unconventional shale wells due to the stress-dependent nature of fractures in shale reservoirs. Research has shown that applying a lower pressure drawdown helps to maintain the reservoir conductivity, resulting in higher productivity over the life of a well. Historic bottomhole pressure data from the well over time was used as a benchmark from which to set more and less aggressive pressure decline rates as bounding modeling cases. All pressure decline rates/strategies were forecasted over 5 years, and the model was used to generate oil, water, and gas prediction over the same timeframe. This report presents the results from the production forecast and discusses potential operational and economic implications, with contrasting perspectives between well productivity and profitability given typical oil and gas economics and the volatility in the oil and gas market.
The HLW TCO Units are a combination of four rectangular vessels; the Recuperative Heat Exchanger, Electric Heater, Selective Catalytic Oxidizer (SCO), and the Selective Catalytic Reducer (SCR). Each housing is simply a closed rectangular box with formed angle stiffeners welded to the outside perimeter. The housings are connected with process piping and sit on a skid. There is an external frame to support all major process piping and the Electric Heater. The process piping consists of a 14" inlet which enters the heat exchanger. Then the off-gas flows through 18" cross over piping which leads to the heater. Once the off-gas is heated, another section of 18" process piping leads the off-gas through the SCO and SCR. The off-gas then flows through the heat exchanger before exiting through 16" process piping which leads to the customer's piping. The other equipment associated with the HLW TCO is the Ammonia Dilution Skid. The dilution skid controls the ammonia injection into the off-gas. The dilution skid supports two process lines, a 2" line and a 1" line which carries process air and anhydrous ammonia respectively. Ammonia injection into the off-gas is required prior to entering the SCR to ensure the NOx reduction occurs through the SCR catalyst bank.

Since hydrogen vehicles can be implemented in heavy-duty transportation applications such as buses, it is important to understand safety hazards and risks of hydrogen fuel cell electric bus (FCEB) and refueling technology. We conducted a hazard and operability analysis for FCEB operation/driving, refueling, and maintenance/inspection. We identified failure modes and consequences and defined a qualitative risk metric as the product of the likelihood of a failure and the severity of the worst-ca
High-temperature advanced reactors (ARs) under development are expected to offer lower levelized cost of energy (LCOE) compared to existing light water reactors (LWRs) because of longer time between refueling due to efficient fuel burnup, and higher efficiency of the energy conversion thermal cycle of AR.
