µRWELL-PICOSEC: The Development of Fast Timing Resistive Micro-WELL Detector Technology.

We present the development of a new concept of fast timing gaseous detector, the ?RWELL-PICOSEC detector based on Resistive Micro-Well (?RWELL) technology to provide timing resolution in the tens of picosecond range for application as time-of-flight (TOF) technology in the particle physics and medical instrumentation fields. The ?RWELL-PICOSEC technology combined a Cerenkov radiator for the generation of Cerenkov photons from high energy charged particles, a photocathode for the conversion of the produced photons into primary electrons and the ?RWELL foil for the multiplication of the electron to produce large signal on pad segmentation readout. The proof of concept of ?RWELL-PICOSEC is demonstrated with a small single-channel prototype and preliminary timing performance of 90 ps has been measured. Optimization study the amplification structure of ?RWELL-PICOSEC for the improvement of timing resolution is discussed and results on timing performance studies in beam at CERN are presented. The development of large area (100 mm × 100 mm) ?RWELL-PICOSEC and associated multichannel fast readout electronics and data acquisition system are also reported

Solitons of the symmetric $ϕ^4 − ϕ^2 |ϕ| − ϕ^2$ triple well model

A symmetric $ϕ^4 − ϕ^2 |ϕ| − ϕ^2$ model has recently attracted attention due to its usefulness in studying tunable phase transitions. Here, we analyze the behavior of this model for the entire range of parameters and obtain its kink and pulse solutions. For completeness, we also present several periodic solutions of this model. Furthermore, we present a generalized symmetric $ϕ^{4n} − ϕ^{2n} |ϕ| − ϕ^2$ model where $n = 1, 2, 3, ...$ and obtain its kink and pulse solutions for arbitrary $n$.

Evidence for trap-assisted Auger recombination in MBE grown InGaN quantum wells by electron emission spectroscopy

We report on the direct measurement of hot electrons generated in the active region of blue light-emitting diodes grown by ammonia molecular beam epitaxy by electron emission spectroscopy. The external quantum efficiency of these devices is <1% and does not droop; thus, the efficiency losses from the intrinsic, interband, electron-electron-hole, or electron-hole-hole Auger should not be a significant source of hot carriers. Here, the detection of hot electrons in this case suggests that an alternate hot electron generating process is occurring within these devices, likely a trap-assisted Auger recombination process.

Vibrational relaxation dynamics in layered perovskite quantum wells

Significance Halide perovskites, especially layered perovskites, offer a number of advantages to creating bright and efficient light-emitting devices and other optoelectronic applications. The organic–inorganic hybrid layered perovskite features complex lattice dynamics due to the ionic character of the crystal and the softness arising from noncovalent bonds between molecular moieties and the inorganic network. Especially, the packing geometry of the organic barriers leads to a structural deformation of inorganic octahedral, which strongly affects the properties that are crucial for device applications. In this work, we use high-resolution resonant impulsive stimulated Raman spectroscopy of a variety of ligand substitutions in layered perovskites. We find the composition of organic ligands can substantially change the dephasing rate of optical phonons and their temperature dependence, due to varying degrees of anharmonicity in the lattice and dynamic structural disorder.
