THE THEORY OF THE SOLAR WIND

Theory of solar wind as hydrodynamic expansion of outer corona due to gravitational binding and thermalization

HYDRODYNAMICS↗

Field emission of cesium ions

Field emission of cesium ions from positive electrode formulated for electric field range that binds ions to electrode surface

Sama, N.↗

Ultra-high-flux heat exchanger

Spherical depressions on the wall of the inner tube increase the heat flux in a concentric tube heat exchanger. Regularly spaced patterns of precisely formed depressions on the inner wall alleviate the film-binding phenomenon without significantly degrading the flow characteristics.

Trebes, D. M.↗

Breakaway electrical connector

One-shot, breakaway multiwire cable connector is fabricated by using a number of small-diameter interconnecting wires, each of which, differing incrementally in length, is welded to neighboring pin and cable terminations. This design eliminates frictional binding and provides highly reliable cable interconnections until the connector is disengaged.

Katzin, L.↗

Two-directional-flow, axial-motion-joint flow liner

Flow liner eliminates high-cycle fatigue in ducts carrying cryogenic fluids. It is capable of handling two-directional, high-velocity cryogenic liquid flow with a 3-inch axial motion without binding within a 25-inch length.
