Innovative Joints for High-Temperature Superconducting Tapes

The CRADA was terminated due to changes in the Participant's business priorities. Brookhaven National Laboratory’s involvement was limited to meetings with the Participant and preliminary investigations conducted by the Principal Investigator. No technical milestones or outcomes were achieved prior to termination.

Quench Propagation On Rare-Earth Barium Copper Oxide (REBCO) Tape

Rare Earth Barium Copper Oxide (REBCO) is a high‑temperature superconducting material that has zero electrical resistance. A quench occurs when a section of the superconductor suddenly transitions to a resistive state after exceeding its critical current. This localized loss of superconductivity generates a voltage rise, serving as an essential signal for quench detection and protection. While capable of carrying extremely high currents, REBCO is mechanically brittle and have slow quench propagation which makes voltage change difficult to detect.

Optically activated magnetic recording tape

Optically activated data storage medium visually and electromagnetically reproduces a recorded signal. In an electric field, particles in heat-fluidized thermoplastic layer form a visible image of the recorded signal. Refluidizing the thermoplastic layer erases the signals. Very high data packing densities are achieved.

Computer program and user documentation medical data tape retrieval system

This volume provides several levels of documentation for the program module of the NASA medical directorate mini-computer storage and retrieval system. A biomedical information system overview describes some of the reasons for the development of the mini-computer storage and retrieval system. It briefly outlines all of the program modules which constitute the system.

Preparation of prepreg graphite tape with insoluble polymer

Powdered polymer is finely ground. Second polymer, soluble, is mixed with appropriate solvent. Milled polymer and graphite filaments are added to soluble polymer-solvent solution to create slurry. Slurry is dried, and when ready for processing, the soluble, binder-polymer is removed by heat during precure or cure cycle.

ERTS computer compatible tape data processing and analysis. Appendix 1: The utility of imaging radars for the study of lake ice

There are no author-identified significant results in this report. Remotely sensed multispectral scanner and return beam vidicon imagery from ERTS-1 is being used for: (1) water depth measurements in the Virgin Islands and Upper Lake Michigan areas; (2) mapping of the Yellowstone National Park; (3) assessment of atmospheric effects in Colorado; (4) lake ice surveillance in Canada and Great Lakes areas; (5) recreational land use in Southeast Michigan; (6) International Field Year on the Great Lakes investigations of Lake Ontario; (7) image enhancement of multispectral scanner data using existing techniques; (8) water quality monitoring of the New York Bight, Tampa Bay, Lake Michigan, Santa Barbara Channel, and Lake Erie; (9) oil pollution detection in the Chesapeake Bay, Gulf of Mexico southwest of New Orleans, and Santa Barbara Channel; and (10) mapping iron compounds in the Wind River Mountains.
