AmeriFlux FLUXNET-1F CA-SF3 Saskatchewan - Western Boreal, forest burned in 1998

This is the AmeriFlux Management Project (AMP) created FLUXNET-1F version of the carbon flux data for the site CA-SF3 Saskatchewan - Western Boreal, forest burned in 1998. This is the FLUXNET version of the carbon flux data for the site CA-SF3 Saskatchewan - Western Boreal, forest burned in 1998 produced by applying the standard ONEFlux (1F) software. Site Description - The 1998 burn site (F98) was in the east part of Prince Albert National Park, Saskatchewan, in the Waskesiu Fire, ignited by lightning that burned about 1700 ha in July 1998. The pre-fire forest consisted of jack pine and black spruce stands, with some intermixed aspen. The fire was severe, consuming much of the top layer of organic soil and killing all trees. In 2001, much of the regenerating vegetation consisted of aspen saplings about 1 m tall and shorter jack pine and black spruce seedlings. An overstory of dead, leafless jack pine trees dominated at a height of 18 m. Sparse grass and herbs, such as fireweed (Epilobium angustifolium L.) covered the ground. There were a large number of fallen dead trees, mostly perched above the ground and not decomposing quickly.

AmeriFlux FLUXNET-1F CA-KLP Kinoje Lake Peatland

This is the AmeriFlux Management Project (AMP) created FLUXNET-1F version of the carbon flux data for the site CA-KLP Kinoje Lake Peatland. This is the FLUXNET version of the carbon flux data for the site CA-KLP Kinoje Lake Peatland produced by applying the standard ONEFlux (1F) software. Site Description - Ontario Ministry of Environment and Climate Change's Environmental Monitoring and Reporting Branch has established five carbon flux monitoring towers in Ontario’s Far North as part of its Climate Change Modelling and Monitoring program. These long term monitoring stations measure carbon exchange and a suite of soil and meteorological parameters over peatland ecosystems to better understand carbon cycling in Ontario’s Far North. Information produced by these monitoring stations will assist the province in land use planning and the development of climate change adaptation strategies.

AmeriFlux FLUXNET-1F CA-RBM Richmond Brackish Marsh

This is the AmeriFlux Management Project (AMP) created FLUXNET-1F version of the carbon flux data for the site CA-RBM Richmond Brackish Marsh. This is the FLUXNET version of the carbon flux data for the site CA-RBM Richmond Brackish Marsh produced by applying the standard ONEFlux (1F) software. Site Description - This site is a tidal brackish marsh on the southern side of the Sturgeon Bank Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada. This area is situated within the estuary of the Fraser River. The total area of Sturgeon Bank WMA is 5,152 ha, of which the tidal marsh area is 205 ha. The southern of the WMA is characterized as a brackish marsh, which transitions to a salt marsh as you go north. Human development has influenced this area for almost 200 years. Human activities in this area began in the early 1800s, which included dredging, dyke and entrainment structures, agriculture, and other uses. The areas were designated as WMA in 1998. This area experiences a semidiurnal tidal cycle. The flux tower is located near the southern edge of the marsh, where the dominant species is cattail (Typha latifolia), with a canopy height of 160 cm. The tower is in a high marsh system and was installed to analyze energy, H2O, CO2, and CH4 fluxes on June 1, 2022.

The site is part of Turkey Point Environmental Observatory (TPEO). The establishment of the agricultural site has allowed TPEO to become representative of the major biomes in the Great Lakes region, encompassing coniferous and deciduous forests, as well as agricultural crops. The soil at this agricultural site is well-drained fine sandy loam. The area has a humid continental climate and has one of the longest-growing seasons in Canada with at least 150–160 frost-free days in a year.

AmeriFlux FLUXNET-1F CA-LU1 Steen River

This is the AmeriFlux Management Project (AMP) created FLUXNET-1F version of the carbon flux data for the site CA-LU1 Steen River. This is the FLUXNET version of the carbon flux data for the site CA-LU1 Steen River produced by applying the standard ONEFlux (1F) software. Site Description - Steen River is a peat plateau that burned in extreme fire conditions in late May 2019. Prior to the fire the site was likley and open canopy of stunted black spruce and a ground layer of Labrador tea shurbs and lichen or sphagnum with around >150cm of peat. All low shrubs were consumed by the fire, Sphagnum mosees were singed but not combusted, all the trees deceased with needles, tertiary, secondary branches consumed by fire and >30% of primary branches rmained.
