Study of D + → K S 0 K * ( 892 ) + in D + → K S 0 K S 0 π +

Using a data sample of e + e − collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.93 fb − 1 collected with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy 3.773 GeV, we perform the first amplitude analysis of the decay D + → K S 0 K S 0 π + . The absolute branching fraction of D + → K S 0 K S 0 π + is measured to be ( 2.97 ± 0.0 9 stat ± 0.0 5 syst ) × 10 − 3 . The dominant intermediate process is D + → K S 0 K * ( 892 ) + , whose branching fraction is determined to be ( 8.72 ± 0.2 8 stat ± 0.1 5 syst ) × 10 − 3 , including all the K * ( 892 ) + decays. Model-independent determination of the strong-phase difference between D 0 and D ¯ 0 → π + π − π + π − decays

Measurements of the strong-phase difference between D 0 and D ¯ 0 → π + π − π + π − are performed in bins of phase space. The study exploits a sample of quantum-correlated D D ¯ mesons collected by the BESIII experiment in e + e − collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb − 1 . Here, D denotes a neutral charm meson in a superposition of flavor eigenstates. The reported results are valuable for measurements of the C P -violating phase γ (also denoted ϕ 3 ) in B ± → D K ± , D → π + π − π + π − decays, and the binning schemes are designed to provide good statistical sensitivity to this parameter. The expected uncertainty on γ arising from the precision of the strong-phase measurements, when applied to very large samples of B -meson decays, is around 1.5° or 2°, depending on the binning scheme. The binned strong-phase parameters are combined to give a value of F + 4 π = 0.746 ± 0.010 ± 0.004 for the C P -even fraction of D 0 → π + π − π + π − decays, which is around 30% more precise than the previous best measurement of this quantity. Exploring the synergy of kinematics and dynamics for collider physics

In collider experiments, an event is characterized by two distinct yet mutually complementary features: the “global features” and the “local features.” Kinematic information such as the event topology of a hard process, masses, and spins of particles comprises global features spanning the entire phase space. This global feature can be inferred from reconstructed objects. In contrast, representations of particles in gauge groups, such as quantum chromodynamics (QCD), offer localized features revealing the dynamics of an underlying theory. These local features, particularly observed in the patterns of radiation as raw data in various detector components, complement the global kinematic features. We propose a simple but effective neural network architecture that seamlessly integrates information from both kinematics and QCD to enhance the signal sensitivity at colliders. Observation of D → a 0 ( 980 ) π in the decays D 0 → π + π − η and D + → π + π 0 η

We report the first amplitude analyses of the decays D 0 → π + π − η and D + → π + π 0 η using a data sample taken with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy of 3773 MeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.9 fb − 1 . The contribution from the process D 0 ( + ) → a 0 ( 980 ) + π − ( 0 ) is significantly larger than the D 0 ( + ) → a 0 ( 980 ) − ( 0 ) π + contribution. The ratios B ( D 0 → a 0 ( 980 ) + π − ) / B ( D 0 → a 0 ( 980 ) − π + ) and B ( D + → a 0 ( 980 ) + π 0 ) / B ( D + → a 0 ( 980 ) 0 π + ) are measured to be 7.5 − 0.8 stat + 2.5 ± 1.7 syst and 2.6 ± 0.6 stat ± 0.3 syst , respectively. The measured D 0 ratio disagrees with the theoretical predictions by orders of magnitudes, thus implying a substantial contribution from final-state interactions. Measurement of the inclusive cross sections of prompt J / ψ and ψ ( 3686 ) production in e + e − annihilation from s = 3.808 to 4.951 GeV

The inclusive cross sections of prompt J / ψ and ψ ( 3686 ) production are measured at center-of-mass energies from 3.808 to 4.951 GeV. The dataset used is 22 fb − 1 of e + e − annihilation data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. The results obtained are in agreement with the previous BESIII measurements of exclusive J / ψ and ψ ( 3686 ) production. The average values obtained for the cross sections measured in the center-of-mass energy ranges from 4.527 to 4.951 GeV for J / ψ and from 4.843 to 4.951 GeV for ψ ( 3686 ) , where the impact of known resonances is negligible, are 14.0 ± 1.7 ± 3.1 pb and 15.3 ± 3.0 pb , respectively. For J / ψ , the first and the second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. For ψ ( 3686 ) , the uncertainty is total. These values are useful for testing charmonium production models. Published by the American Physical Society 2025

Observation of η c ( 1 S , 2 S ) and χ c J decays to 2 ( π + π − ) η via ψ ( 3686 ) radiative transitions

Based on ( 2712.4 ± 14.1 ) × 10 6 ψ ( 3686 ) decays collected with the BESIII detector, we have observed, for the first time, the hadronic decays of S- and P-wave charmonium states into 2 ( π + π − ) η via radiative transitions from ψ ( 3686 ) . The branching fraction of the decay η c ( 1 S ) → 2 ( π + π − ) η has a significant dependence on the interference pattern between η c ( 1 S ) and non- η c ( 1 S ) processes. We measure it in both the destructive and constructive interference scenarios for the first time. The mass and width of the η c ( 1 S ) are measured to be M = ( 2984.14 ± 0.13 ± 0.38 ) MeV / c 2 and Γ = ( 28.82 ± 0.11 ± 0.82 ) MeV , respectively. Clear signals for the decays of the χ c J ( J = 0 , 1 , 2 ) and the η c ( 2 S ) to 2 ( π + π − ) η are also observed for the first time, and the corresponding branching fractions are measured. The ratio of the branching fractions between the η c ( 2 S ) and η c ( 1 S ) decays is significantly lower than the theoretical prediction, which might suggest different dynamics in their decays.
