SOFAST 2.0 User Guide and Technical Description, Document Version 1.0

This report accompanies Sandia’s deflectometry tool, SOFAST 2.0, providing both a user guide and a basic technical description. SOFAST is a deflectometry tool used to measure surface slope maps of concentrating solar power (CSP) mirrors and collectors. The original SOFAST performed high-resolution measurement of a variety of CSP mirror types. SOFAST 2.0 is a completely new version, re-implemented in Python and including many extensions and improvements.

User Guide for Compressible Flow Toolbox Version 2.1 for Use With MATLAB(Registered Trademark); Version 7

This report provides a user guide for the Compressible Flow Toolbox, a collection of algorithms that solve almost 300 linear and nonlinear classical compressible flow relations. The algorithms, implemented in the popular MATLAB programming language, are useful for analysis of one-dimensional steady flow with constant entropy, friction, heat transfer, or shock discontinuities. The solutions do not include any gas dissociative effects. The toolbox also contains functions for comparing and validating the equation-solving algorithms against solutions previously published in the open literature. The classical equations solved by the Compressible Flow Toolbox are: isentropic-flow equations, Fanno flow equations (pertaining to flow of an ideal gas in a pipe with friction), Rayleigh flow equations (pertaining to frictionless flow of an ideal gas, with heat transfer, in a pipe of constant cross section.), normal-shock equations, oblique-shock equations, and Prandtl-Meyer expansion equations. At the time this report was published, the Compressible Flow Toolbox was available without cost from the NASA Software Repository.

Submitting a Standard Compliance Annual Report: EPAct State and Alternative Fuel Provider Fleet Program User Guide

State government and alternative fuel provider fleets covered under the State and Alternative Fuel Provider Fleet Program (Program) established pursuant to the Energy Policy Act of 1992 (EPAct) may use the Compliance Reporting Tool to track and report on several compliance activities. These activities include, but are not limited to, completing Standard Compliance annual reports, Alternative Compliance notices of intent, and exemption requests. Covered fleets can access the Compliance Tool through the Program's website at https://epact.energy.gov/users/sign_in. Covered fleet points of contact should bookmark the Compliance Reporting Tool for future access. This user guide addresses how to complete and submit Standard Compliance annual reports, including getting started with reporting, submitting annual reports, submitting exemption requests, and viewing annual reports.

Satellite radar altimetry over ice. Volume 4: Users' guide for Antarctica elevation data from Seasat

A gridded surface-elevation data set and a geo-referenced data base for the Seasat radar altimeter data over Greenland are described. This is a user guide to accompany the data provided to data centers and other users. The grid points are on a polar stereographic projection with a nominal spacing of 20 km. The gridded elevations are derived from the elevation data in the geo-referenced data base by a weighted fitting of a surface in the neighborhood of each grid point. The gridded elevations are useful for the creating of large-scale contour maps, and the geo-referenced data base is useful for regridding, creating smaller-scale contour maps, and examinating individual elevation measurements in specific geographic areas. Tape formats are described, and a FORTRAN program for reading the data tape is listed and provided on the tape.

Configuration Analysis Tool (CAT). System Description and users guide (revision 1)

A system description of, and user's guide for, the Configuration Analysis Tool (CAT) are presented. As a configuration management tool, CAT enhances the control of large software systems by providing a repository for information describing the current status of a project. CAT provides an editing capability to update the information and a reporting capability to present the information. CAT is an interactive program available in versions for the PDP-11/70 and VAX-11/780 computers.

Hydropower Biological Evaluation Toolset (HBET) Version 3.0: User Guide

The Hydropower Biological Evaluation Tools (HBET) software package, developed by Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), is designed to assemble, organize, and process data collected by Sensor Fish and live fish. HBET enable users to characterize the hydraulic conditions of hydropower structures and estimate fish injury and mortality rates from various stressors. Future updates of the software may support other technologies, such as bead tracking in physical models and computational fluid dynamics. The HBET program can be customized to analyze different hydraulic applications, including turbines, spillways, weirs, pumped storage, and other user-defined functions, and therefore, help researchers, turbine designers, hydropower operators, and regulators better evaluate hydropower structures regarding their environmental sustainability and cost-effectiveness. Added content to the user guide about the new feature for predicting absolute injury rates.

Sierra/SolidMechanics 5.20 ITAR Users' Guide: Addendum for Shock Capabilities

This is an addendum to the Sierra/SolidMechanics 5.20 User’s Guide that documents additional capabilities available only in alternate versions of the Sierra/SolidMechanics (Sierra/SM) code. These alternate versions are enhanced to provide capabilities that are regulated under the U.S. Department of State’s International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) export control rules. The ITAR regulated codes are only distributed to entities that comply with the ITAR export control requirements. The ITAR enhancements to Sierra/SM include material models with an energy-dependent pressure response (appropriate for very large deformations and strain rates) and capabilities for blast modeling. This document is an addendum only; the standard Sierra/SolidMechanics 5.20 User’s Guide should be referenced for most general descriptions of code capability and use.

A Users Guide for the NASA ANOPP Propeller Analysis System

The purpose of this report is to document improvements to the Propeller Analysis System of the Aircraft Noise Prediction Program (PAS-ANOPP) and to serve as a users guide. An overview of the functional modules and modifications made to the Propeller ANOPP system are described. Propeller noise predictions are made by executing a sequence of functional modules through the use of ANOPP control statements. The most commonly used ANOPP control statements are discussed with detailed examples demonstrating the use of each control statement. Originally, the Propeller Analysis System included the angle-of-attack only in the performance module. Recently, modifications have been made to also include angle-of-attack in the noise prediction module. A brief description of PAS prediction capabilities is presented which illustrate the input requirements necessary to run the code by way of ten templates. The purpose of the templates are to provide PAS users with complete examples which can be modified to serve their particular purposes. The examples include the use of different approximations in the computation of the noise and the effects of synchrophasing. Since modifications have been made to the original PAS-ANOPP, comparisons of the modified ANOPP and wind tunnel data are also included. Two appendices are attached at the end of this report which provide useful reference material. One appendix summarizes the PAS functional modules while the second provides a detailed discussion of the TABLE control statement.

Operations analysis (study 2.1): Program manual and users guide for the LOVES computer code

Information is provided necessary to use the LOVES Computer Program in its existing state, or to modify the program to include studies not properly handled by the basic model. The Users Guide defines the basic elements assembled together to form the model for servicing satellites in orbit. As the program is a simulation, the method of attack is to disassemble the problem into a sequence of events, each occurring instantaneously and each creating one or more other events in the future. The main driving force of the simulation is the deterministic launch schedule of satellites and the subsequent failure of the various modules which make up the satellites. The LOVES Computer Program uses a random number generator to simulate the failure of module elements and therefore operates over a long span of time typically 10 to 15 years. The sequence of events is varied by making several runs in succession with different random numbers resulting in a Monte Carlo technique to determine statistical parameters of minimum value, average value, and maximum value.

AEROX: Computer program for transonic aircraft aerodynamics to high angles of attack. Volume 1: Aerodynamic methods and program users' guide

The AEROX program estimates lift, induced-drag and pitching moments to high angles (typ. 60 deg) for wings and for wingbody combinations with or without an aft horizontal tail. Minimum drag coefficients are not estimated, but may be input for inclusion in the total aerodynamic parameters which are output in listed and plotted formats. The theory, users' guide, test cases, and program listing are presented.
