Hale & Paris (T-2) have evaluated the 15 N system to provide nuclear cross section and covariance information for nuclear data uncertainty quantification. This memo gives a brief discussion of the R-matrix method used to generate this nuclear scattering and reaction data in the ENDF-6 format.
The AIACHNE (AI/ML Informed cAlifornium CHi Nuclear data Experiment) project aims at designing an experiment for the 252 Cf Prompt Fission Neutron Spectrum (PFNS) that explores systematic biases in an experimental database retrieved from the EXFOR databases. To that end, machine learning (ML) methods were applied to pint-point measurement features likely related to bias. From that information, we selected a feature that should be explored by the AIACHNE experiment. Measurement features are metadata encapsulating all pertinent information about the physical measurement and analysis techniques. Examples are, for instance, what neutron and fission detectors were used for the physical metadata, and what background reduction techniques were employed for analysis techniques. Such metadata were retrieved both from EXFOR entries as well as the literature of data sets described in detail in Reference 2 (at the end of the article).

This document describes the MENDF80 and MT80 data libraries, which are multi-group neutron cross section libraries based on ENDF/B-VIII.0 for LANL’s Nuclear Data Interface (NDI). MENDF80 is a downscatter-only library, while MT80 is multi-temperature. Both libraries also have 30-group pre-collapsed versions, MENDF80 30 and MT80 30.
The work plan described in this document has been developed to cover work to be performed by the U. S. Nuclear Data Program (USNDP) during Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 that begins on October 1, 2024. This plan has been prepared in consultation with the members of the Coordinating Committee who represent the organizations participating in the program. Each Coordinating Committee member prepared a draft plan for his/her organization. Each contribution was integrated into a unified work plan. The draft plan was then circulated to the Coordinating Committee for comments and corrections before the final document was submitted to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
Systematic comparisons across theoretical predictions for the properties of dense matter, nuclear physics data, and astrophysical observations (also called meta-analyses) are performed. Existing predictions for symmetric nuclear and neutron matter properties are considered, and they are shown in this paper as an illustration of the present knowledge. Asymmetric matter is constructed assuming the isospin asymmetry quadratic approximation. It is employed to predict the pressure at twice saturation energy-density based only on nuclear-physics constraints, and we find it compatible with the one from the gravitational-wave community. To make our meta-analysis transparent, updated in the future, and to publicly share our results, the Python toolkit nucleardatapy is described and released here. Hence, this paper accompanies nucleardatapy, which simplifies access to nuclear-physics data, including theoretical calculations, experimental measurements, and astrophysical observations. This Python toolkit is designed to easily provide data for: (i) predictions for uniform matter (from microscopic or phenomenological approaches); (ii) correlation among nuclear properties induced by experimental and theoretical constraints; (iii) measurements for finite nuclei (nuclear chart, charge radii, neutron skins or nuclear incompressibilities, etc.) and hypernuclei (single particle energies); and (iv) astrophysical observations. This toolkit provides data in a unified format for easy comparison and provides new meta-analysis tools. It will be continuously developed, and we expect contributions from the community in our endeavor.
The collaboration between the Los Alamos National Laboratory Neutron Science Center (LANSCE) and TerraPower LLC enables the enhanced understanding of fast spectrum critical systems consisting of chlorine. Specifically, TerraPower is interested in updating the nuclear data for the stable isotopes of chlorine, 35 Cl and 37 Cl, because these nuclides are the primary constituents of the chloride fuel salt in the Molten Chloride Reactor Experiment (MCRE), for which TerraPower is leading the design. The Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) between the parties is funded by DOE’s Office of Nuclear Energy’s Gateway for Accelerated Innovation in Nuclear (GAIN) initiative to provide the nuclear community with access to the technical, regulatory, and financial support necessary to motivate innovative nuclear reactor technologies toward commercialization. New measurements of 35 Cl(n,p total ) and 35 Cl(n,α total ) were completed at LANSCE to constrain the reaction theory models that are used to generate the updated evaluations. The updated evaluations were then tested across the sensitivities of the MCRE by TerraPower to provide direct feedback to the evaluation for application specific sensitivities.

The experimental results published before Aug 2022 from the various reaction and decay studies leading to nuclides of Z=56 to Z=72, 154 Ba, 154 La, 154 Ce, 154 Pr, 154 Nd, 154 Pm, 154 Sm, 154 Eu, 154 Gd, 154 Tb, 154 Dy, 154 Ho, 154 Er, 154 Tm, 154 Yb, 154 Lu, 154 Hf, in the A=154 mass chain have been reviewed. These data are collected and presented in decay or reaction datasets, together with Adopted Levels and gammas datasets that are the most extensive collections of nuclear structure data for each nuclide. Furthermore this work is intended to supersede the previous evaluation of the A=154 nuclides by C.W. Reich (2009Re14), which was published in Nuclear Data Sheets 110, 2257 (2009).
The Chlorine Worth Study (CWS) was a series of experiments that took place at the National Criticality Experiments Research Center (NCERC), operated by Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). The focus of the experiments was to develop new integral benchmarks for the International Criticality Safety Benchmark Evaluation Project (ICSBEP) Handbook with high sensitivity to chlorine in the thermal neutron energy region and which match sensitivities of aqueous chloride operations at LANL. This work discusses the experiment and how the experimental and simulated results using different nuclear data libraries compare to each other.
Available information pertaining to the nuclear structure of ground and excited states for all known nuclei with mass numbers A=248 has been compiled and evaluated. Here, the adopted level and decay schemes, as well as the detailed nuclear properties and configuration assignments based on experimental data, are presented for these nuclides. When there are insufficient data, expected values from systematics of nuclear properties and/or theoretical calculations are utilized. Unexpected or discrepant experimental results are also noted. This work supersedes the 2014 evaluation by M.J. Martin (2014Ma86).
Historically, time-of-flight (TOF) nuclear cross section measurements on different nuclides are assumed to be uncorrelated if they were recorded in different facilities with identical methods, identical facilities with different methods, and even identical facilities with identical methods. Ideally, measurements of different nuclides would truly be uncorrelated thus providing independent assessments of some cross section. In reality, correlations exist between measurements but are simply assumed to be unimportant. To eliminate these qualitative assumptions, in this paper we make a counter-intuitive suggestion to perform an intentionally correlated measurement of energy-differential fission and capture reactions for nuclides in a single criticality safety benchmark during a single experimental campaign. While this would introduce undesirable correlations, it would fully quantify correlations between datasets, rather than assume that the correlations do not exist.

In cases where weighted averaging procedures have been used, the assigned uncertainty in the result is generally not lower than the lowest uncertainty in the data points used in the procedure.

The newly developed software, Nucleus++ , is an advanced tool for displaying basic nuclear physics properties from NUBASE and integrating comprehensive mass information for each nuclide from Atomic Mass Evaluation. Additionally, it allows users to compare experimental nuclear masses with predictions from different mass models. Building on the success and learning experiences of its predecessor, Nucleus , this enhanced tool introduces improved functionality and compatibility. With its user-friendly interface, Nucleus++ was designed as a valuable tool for scholars and practitioners in the field of nuclear science. Finally, this article offers an in-depth description of Nucleus++ , highlighting its main features and anticipated impacts on nuclear science research.
