This report documents the execution of experiments and measurements for IER 519, Thermal/Epithermal eXperiments (TEX) for Hanford applications, using plutonium Zero Power Physics Reactor (ZPPR) plates moderated by interstitial polyethylene and iron (Fe) absorber plates. Initial hand stack, mass, and dimensional measurements were performed in July 2025. The experiments were completed over three weeks from December 2025 to January 2026 at the National Criticality Experiments Research Center (NCERC) at the Nevada National Security Sites (NNSS). All photos and critical data were provided by NCERC and experimenters in LANL’s NEN-2.

Lunar composition analysis by measuring atomic and nuclear radiation emission from orbiter
Skylab experiments are described and their preliminary results are reported. The types of experiments described include medical, earth resources, space physics, space manufacturing, and spacecraft design.
The high peak power neodymium YAG laser and the HeNe laser aboard GAS-449 have demonstrated the survivability of the devices in the micro-gravity, cosmic radiation, thermal, and shock environment of space. Some pharmaceuticals and other materials flown in both the active and passive status have demonstrated reduction in volume and unusual spectroscopic changes. X-ray detectors have shown cosmic particle hits with accompanying destruction at their interaction points. Some scattering in the plates is in evidence. Some results of both active and passive experiments on board the GAS-449 payload are evaluated.

The Integrated Dust/Soil Experiment Package (IDEP) is a suite of instruments that can detect and quantify the abundances of useful raw materials on Mars. We focus here on its capability for resource characterization in the martian soil; however, it is also capable of detecting and quantifying gases in the atmosphere. This paper describes the scientific rationale and the engineering design behind the IDEP.
Space Station Freedom is being developed to support extensive missions involving microgravity research and applications. Requirements for on-orbit payload integration and the simultaneous payload integration of multiple mission increments will provide the stimulus to develop new streamlined integration procedures in order to take advantage of the increased capabilities offered by Freedom. The United States Laboratory and its user accommodations are described. The process of integrating users' experiments and equipment into the United States Laboratory and the Pressurized Logistics Modules is described. This process includes the strategic and tactical phases of Space Station utilization planning. The support that the Work Package 01 Utilization office will provide to the users and hardware developers, in the form of Experiment Integration Engineers, early accommodation assessments, and physical integration of experiment equipment, is described. Plans for integrated payload analytical integration are also described.
PARADIGM, PARallel Approach of Differential and InteGral Measurements, is a cross-collaborative effort at Los Alamos National Laboratory between nuclear data theorists, differential and integral experimenters, as well as machine learning statisticians to tackle uncertainties in the intermediate region of 239 Pu. In essence, the idea behind PARADIGM is to remove the linear conceptualization of the nuclear data pipeline, shown in Figure 1, and replace it with a far more parallelized approach. The novel approach leverages machine learning to guide which differential measurements and integral experiments will result in the largest decrease in uncertain ties for a nuclide reaction pair in a given energy range. The concept builds off earlier work, EUCLID, which focused on the fast region of 239 Pu. The practical benefit of having evaluation, differential measurement, and integral experiment personnel in collaboration with machine learning is to represent the entire nuclear data in one snapshot. This enable large reduction in the time to deliver improved nuclear data, which using the PARADIGM approach could be done in 3 years. A general outline of PARADIGM and specific topics are available in other papers. The discussion here will pertain directly to the integral experiment design. More specifically, the process of taking a rough design and transforming it into a finalized neutronic model will be discussed.
Acceleration ground tests were conducted on the Get Away Special (GAS) payload 559 to verify the structural integrity of the structure/support avionics and two of the planned three flight experiments. The ITA (Integrated Test Area) Standardized Experiment Module (ISEM) structure was modified to accommodate the experiments for payload 559. The ISEM avionics consisted of a heavy duty sliver zinc power supply, three orthogonal-mounted low range microgravity accelerometers, a tri-axis high range accelerometer, a solid state recorder/programmer sequencer, and pressure and temperature sensors. The tests were conducted using the Gravitational Plant Physiology Laboratory Centrifuge of the University City Science Center in Philadelphia, PA. The launch-powered flight steady state acceleration profile of the shuttle was simulated from lift-off through jettison of the External Tank (3.0 g's). Additional tests were conducted at twice the nominal powered flight acceleration levels (6 g's) and an over-test condition of four times the powered flight loads to 12.6 g's. The present test program has demonstrated the value of conducting ground tests to verify GAS payload experiment integrity and operation before flying on the shuttle.
This viewgraph presentation reviews NASA's Integrated Immune Experiment. The objectives include: 1) Address significant lack of data regarding immune status during flight; 2) Replace several recent immune studies with one comprehensive study that will include in-flight sampling; 3) Determine the in-flight status of immunity, physiological stress, viral immunity/reactivation; 4) Determine the clinical risk related to immune dysregulation for exploration class spaceflight; and 5) Determine the appropriate monitoring strategy for spaceflight-associated immune dysfunction, that could be used for the evaluation of countermeasures.

The Energy Materials Chemistry Integrating Theory, Experiment and Data Science (EM-CITED) project is a multidisciplinary research effort focused on accelerating discovery of scientific knowledge via incorporation of data science and artificial intelligence in materials chemistry research. The project aims to advance materials chemistry-aware data science to unify theory and experiment knowledge streams. The work resulted in foundational AI frameworks for materials chemistry – Deep Reasoning Networks (DRNets), Hierarchical Correlation Learning for Multi-property Prediction (H-CLMP), and Material-to-Spectrum (Mat2Spec) prediction – as well as a host of strategies for accelerated scientific discoveries through principled incorporation of data science in computational and experimental research.
